This thread is created for two purposes. The first to announce that Commander Warlus is my new account which is going to be shared by several users that will help host my games to make things run much smoother. The other reason is to poll together the interest level of anyone willing to playtest forum TBS a.k.a Turn based strageties. We already has a rudimentary system created by my team and I so don't worry about that. We already have some fluff put together that we release once the poll is taken. Please respone and support this idea.

Also on another note that this account will be used for people's other than Mordo's games so be warn if you see Commander Warlus rp and the style is different.

Would you guys like to have the army list now. The individual unit list is not completel yet also the fluff for each army is also not complete so it would be a simple list and a brief detail of each faction

I'd be genuinely careful about this kinda thing... having multiple accounts on Dakka is bad I believe. Ask a Mod about what your doing.

It is a fantasy game, and yes, I did see Thor last week, but that is unrelated, as I'm going off of the Greek Myth/Conan logic for the Hyperboreans.

The Claw

Intro to the Warrior-Kings of Nilfheim fluff

Far to the north lies a land hostile to human life. Endless blizzards, hordes of man-eating wolves, and cannibal giants are but a few of the hazards men face in Nilfheim. The few that survive past childhood are the ultimate survivors, having faced the worst that both man and nature can throw at them, again and again. This is a story of one such man. Born into the lands ruled by the Midgard tribe. Born on the winter solstice, Thorvald was said to blessed by the gods. It is said that at his birth, a one-eyed raven perched on his cradle, and taught him the ways of battle. By the age of seven winters, Thorvald had already killed his first Ghul, and mounted his head above the Midgard longhouse. When rumors of a Hyperborean raiding party reached the ears of the warriors of Midgard, Thorvald's father Skagi, his brother, Ragwald, and Thorvald himself, set off to claim their heads.

The winter was harsh, and when they were forced to take shelter in a cave, the Hyperboreans attacked. The blue-skinned giants wielded their bronze weapons with savagery and skill, but they say that there is nothing more dangerous than a cornered Midgardian. On that day, Skagi proved that saying true, and brutally hacked off the head of one of the giants with his half-and-a-half sword, hurling it into the rest of the brutes. Following his example, his sons, laid into the cannibals, hacking and chopping until they were unrecognizable. As the final Hyperborean fled, the men gave chase, and as they reached a narrow mountain pass, they were ambushed by over twenty of the monsters. The battle lasted for over three days, and in the end only Thorvald walked away with his life, carrying the heads of the slain giants, as well as the bodies of his kin. Half-dead from frostbite and exhaustion, Thorvald collapsed into the snow. As he fell, he awakened in a grand feasting hall, where he saw men that he had fought alongside in battles past beckoning him to join them. But as he stood, a stern, one-eyed man told the warrior that it was not yet his time to join his brothers in Valhalla. Snapping his eyes open, Thorvald found himself back in Midgard, the giant heads mounted in the longhouse, as was tradition.

He found himself traveling the world, raiding and pillaging, from dark Ostophos, to bright Myrmidia. Returning to Midgard after stripping the coast bare, Thorvald settled down and raised a family with his wife Bera, and had three sons, Brodd, Skagi, and Ragwald, named after his father and brother. When news that the Ghuls were mustering for war, Thorvald and his band travelled up the Grurd River by means of longboat to launch a preemptive attack. Landing over the cover of darkness, Thorvald and his band slaughtered the tribesmen with ease, burning the village as they returned to their ships. When the Ghul chieftain learned of the massacre, he ordered an attack on Midgard.

Expecting such a response, the lands of Midgard were heavily defended, and on the fields of Vigrid, the armies of Ghul and Midgard clashed. Wearing wicker crow masks, the Ghuls made their attacks on wooden chariots, pulled by wild horses. During the battle, Brodd was charged by a Ghul chariot. Dodging the stampede of horseflesh, Thorvald's son leapt atop the chariot, and beat the Ghul driver to death with his fists, ripping off his wicker mask and hurling it into the rival army. Skagi was himself grabbed by a Myrmidon cyclopes, hired as a mercenary by the Ghul chieftain. Binding the creature with his spear, Skagi crushed it with it's own massive hammer, earning the name Heldenhammer.

On the bloody, frozen plain of Vigrid, Bera herself fought as a shield maiden, killing many a Ghul with her axe, Skadd. Thorvald himself did battle side by side with Ragwald, forming a deadly spear tip aimed at the Ghul chieftain's chariot. Father and son dragged the Ghul from his vehicle as it sped past, and kicked him to death with their sealskin boots. Holding his foe's head aloft, Ragwald cast it at the enemy army, and the day was won for the men of Midgard. But it was not over for the Ghuls, who whent back to their frozen forests to lick their wounds. Years later, Thorvald became Jarl, and ruled his people with a firm, but just hand, leading them to further conquest. Skagi left to seek his fortune in Myrmidia as a mercenary captain, and Brodd became a shipwright of legendary renown. Ragwald married Ysra, and the two had six children, Asvald, Hrolf, Bard, Bardi, Ludin, and Manni.

For years, wealth flowed into Midgard, but whispers spoke of an alliance between the Hyperboreans and the Ghul. Amassing a massive host of Midgardians, Myrmidon mercenaries, Ronakite horse masters, Noddi skirmishers, and Pictish foresters, Thorvald marched to wipe the Ghul from the face of the world. Once again, on the fields of Vigrid, the two great armies clashed, and blood permanently stained the soil red. Leading the charge, Thorvald leapt atop the back of a Hyperborean and opened his throat with his fingers, offering the blood to the gods to lend them their strength in the upcoming battle.

It would seem that the gods indeed hear Thorvald's prayers, and a host of Valkyries rode down from the sky, lopping off Ghulish heads with their magical axes. Once again, with his wife and sons at his side, Thorvald lead the charge, butchering Ghul and giant alike, nearly causing them to rout in fear. But it was not to last, and the remaining Ghul tribes arrived at Vigrid, and swept down upon the Midgardians and their allies. Thousands of their number were slaughtered, and even Thorvald was brought down by a Hyperborean club. As they lay broken and bleeding, a single raven sped across the battlefield, and each and every Midgardian felt a hot rage boiling in his breast.

Picking themselves from the ground, they howled like animals as they charged their foe, some even forsaking the use of weapons in favor of their fists and teeth. The remaining Ghuls and Hyperboreans were literally ripped to pieces by the berserk host, and as the Valkyries bore down upon the fleeing army, Thorvald tackled the escaping chieftain, and beat in his skull with his fists. In the end, nearly ever Ghul that set foot in Vigrid lay slain, the rest having fled farther north as the Midgardians burned their forests to ash.

Ragwald was slain, and buried in a great mound near his grandfather. Thorvald watched as the Valkyries departed, and felt immense pride in his warriors, and held a great feast to commemorate their great victory.

After the great banquet, Thorvald sent messengers to the other warrior-clans of Nilfheim, calling for the clans to unite under one banner. Several clans readily agreed, but the majority were unimpressed with Thorvald's promises of a unified Nilfheim.

When the Jarl of Skarti sent one of Thorvald's messengers back with his lungs pulled out through his ribcage, the Warrior-King of Midgard flew into a rage, gathering a great host of huscarls that marched strait into the offender's lands. Battle was joined within the day, and by sunset, Thorvald had torn the Jarl's head from his shoulders with his bare hands. A decade of war passed, and soon all bowed to the mighty Jarl of Midgard, who was made Oberjarl by the rest of the Warrior-Kings. A united Nilfheim moved south, bent on pillage on conquest, now the nations of the South tremble as longships unload hundreds of battle-thirsty warriors upon their shores, reaving their way ever deeper into civilized lands...
