Also in the gallery, but the pictures there end up more compressed than I like. This is the first mini I have painted in probably two years. Everything recently's been airbrushing and giant monsters and model kits and making my own resin toys, so this was a nice change of pace. The Finecast does legitimately feel like it has sharper detail when you paint it, and it cleaned up in no time. You can just barely make out where I blew through the side of the bolt pistol muzzle because the resin was softer than I expected.

How much prep work was there and how were the miscasts?

My prep work was like, a half hour from blister to base with gravel and resin additions. Little rough patch on the Crozius handle, but otherwise super simple flash and seams that came off with zero effort from a knife. No bubbles. Stuck together rock solid, and the flexibility is definitely a good thing for overall durability.

Looks nice indeed, and you are right about the softness of the resin. Its great though, if you put it in really hot water, you can bend it, and it cools down in your hand, and its stiff again.. great stuff. Great model also, but maybe a bit thick highlights of the grey on black. They could be more subtle. But I know from experience that black is a b---- to paint good.
So you did pretty well there, but always room for improvement

Have you tipped it over some to see how the bending stresses the paint? Since it's acrylic it probably holds up, but I'm a bit stressed about this stuff chipping much more easily now.

Would you say it holds up better than paint on metals?

I was using a hair dryer to quick-dry a couple of things, which led to the handle and the foot area getting soft and flexing a couple of times, and the paint stayed fine. Definitely better adhesion than on metal, where that exact scenario would have led to cracking and flaking.

Deefect- You are absolutely right. It wasn't until I photographed it that I saw where the rough spots were, but they're totally there, and I hope to improve on that next time. Waiting for Lemartes in Finecast

I definately like the dusty grey layer on top of the black, it really makes it seem like he's in the midst of the battle. Along with the razor wire, it makes for a very characterful and dynamic model.

Is the rocks the model sits on not as high on the fine cast model, I have the metal version and he looks like he is leaping of a taller rock.

I added an additional piece of resin base decoration from one of the basing sets. The figure out of the package is the same as the metal one.

No bubbles? You must be one of the lucky ones.

Honestly, I had already seen the thread so I checked all the blisters with far more scrutiny than I ever would normally, and they all looked fine. Some varying degrees of bend to the weapon on some, but no actual deformities to speak of.
