I'm going to model a 40k treasure pile for an objective, but hit a wall.

What do they use as money in the 40k universe?

It depends on the planet involved. Coins of various denominations are made reference to (Eisenhorn Trilogy), as are bars of gold / other precious metal, credit chits, letters of credit / authorisation and everything between.

'Course there's always a nice factory-fresh crate of weapons. That's a treasure in itself.

I think I'll just go with a pile of gold coins. Fairly unarguable that it's money. Thanks winter.

Greatly depends what planet you're on, I'm sure. I mean, not everybody is going to have the same currency. The Imperium has different currency from the Tau Empire, for example. At least, one would assume so. Coins will be fine as a general representation.

Great book!

I would use the pile of gold as it obviously shows money, give us pictures when done ;P I know orks use teeth. I think some planets use credit chits, but it's down to the race and the planet obviously.

"Wealth and money take many forms throughout the Calixis sector. On some worlds Acolytes may find people trading with precious shell tokens or coins of rare metals, while on others they may encounter cloth trade scrits and currency tracked only on the circuits of cogitators. In Dark Heresy all of these kinds of currency are referred to as throne gelt, or just "thrones". A Throne is a measure of currency throughout the Calixis sector, secured against the massive amounts of wealth generated by imperial planetary tithes. In its most literal form, Throne gealt refers to what is essentially the Emperor's money.
You can use thrones to gauge the price of items from world to world as well as the Acolyte's own personal wealth, even though they may carry a myriad of different forms of currency."

Nah, the most I could break would be a Tervigon's Twig and Berries.

Sorry :(

Back on topic.

I do not believe that there is any standardized currency... so it would be something, ANYTHING of value??

Have the objextive be a safe that has been(dropped, blasted)open with coins spilling out.
Crowns are what they call them in the Eisenhorn trilogy
"Backcloth for a Crown Additional"was on the sign for the photographer he investigated in the short story of the same name.

Far, far, far-future Euros. Which will be called pounds, like a proper currency. ;-p

Edit: Doomthumbs, you did realise how silly this thread was gonna get, didn't you? :-)
