I got one...
The Navis Paternova who is reigning during Sons of Fenris dies of old age.
Never was there a more natural cause for popping your clogs.
Ciaphas Cain also died of old age and was buried with full military honours but is still recorded as being on active duty.

Or was at the time of his funeral at least.

If I recall correctly, there was a Salamander in Salamander (by Nick Kyme) who died of old age, actually. He had been sealed away in what amounted to a lockbox since the time of the Legions, and when the Chapter found him, he died soon after.

To be honest, though, very few from what we read. Most of the stories that we are presented with are military dramas, or espionage action stories, neither of which are very big on natural deaths.

What do you mean by natural deaths? Is disease a natural death, or environmental factors (such as weather or predators)?

I would say most of those deemed guilty of cowardice by a Commisar died of natural causes. A bullet to the back of the head, naturally, kills you.

Well considering the standing orders are for him to be left on active duty no matter what reports they recieve to the contrary...

Bad weather is not a natural death.

Well it's natural to die if you get hit by a bolt of lightning and lightning is natural so...

He was actually given the Emperor's peace, although he would have died soon anyway so I suppose he counts.

Is getting eaten by a naturally occurring predator a natural death? Dying in a natural disaster? Because I can think of one or two folks who fit into that category. If you mean just old age, then there isn't many.

In the 40k universe...the entire universe is at war with each other and the beings from The Warp....I think bolter fire, ripped apart by tyranids, tortured to death by Dark Eldar, and being impaled on a spear on a ork trukk all count as natural causes due to the environment lol
