I am working on some ogres and have tried to create a yellowish kind of skin tone using Desert Yellow as a base and bleached bone as a highlight. I only tried a small patch on one of my ogre's biceps and I am not really won over by the result. Hoping to do this with only CITADEL paints, so if anyone has any good citadel combinations that would be great. If you have photos of the combinations that would be even better.

I'm looking for something like this ogre below:

Check out this article on C'mon about painting skintones

http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1310-ethnic-skintones

What you are looking for, I think, is on the second page. Hope that helps.

Edit: actually, what I linked would give you a guide for 'natural' skintones. If you are looking for 'yellow'/fantasy far east, then i don't have any suggestions.

Thanks for the article, still hoping to find out how to get these skin colors using citadel paints alone.

You might need to use some Vallejos or P3. It would certainly make life easier for you, and they're completely compatible with citadel paints - mix well, etc. There are even places that will ship them to you for free.

There are Vallejo to GW (and vice versa) paint crosswalks available, so that might help. The other way would be to just eyeball the colors and try to approximate the colors and tones that he is going for using GW colors.

Or, as Scipio.au says, pick up a handful of Vallejo, they're generally cheaper than GW and work just as well (metals excepted).
