What do people think of the new ogre models? Personally I love the Stonehorn/ Thundertusk Model I was having a hard time deciding on my next army (it was between Beatsmen and ogres)
And the new ogres might tip the scale in their favor.

I can't use the Mournfangs Thundertusks or Stonehorns in my army (doesn't fit with the theme)), but the other new minis are gold!

I like them, it's nice to see the good 'ol Ogres getting an update. Now I really hope Bretonnia are next

I just saw them-I really like them....but WHY oh WHY are the Gorgers still the same?? They look blinking awful, always have...and making them finecast doesn't change a thing

:/

However, rumors of the character Maneaters going OOP were unfounded-they were moved to Finecast-which is great..

I agree I hate the gorger models. They need to make quite a few changes to that model...either that or have a little customization options because i hate ending up with a line of them all swinging that stupid arm in the air at the same time

I really think the new book is going to tear up the field. As they are my first fantasy army I can't wait until I can bring the might of the ogres to bear! Also, piss everyone off with all of the new shinanegans I can pull.

Gorger hate?????

never thought I'd see the day

Yhettees always got the hate for their sculpt. Gorgers are just a little static in their pose.

anyway, Bretts are probably next. it seems that GW likes tossing little tidbits of the next release in the previous army book.

Note the picture next to the TK magic weapon with HKB. it shows a TK decapitating an Ogre.

the Oge book is full of pictures of Bretts getting smashed like this one

Re: The Gorger and lack of update, the current GW approach is usually to leave most of the current range as is, plug holes where need be and release funky kits for the new stuff. It's better than their old approach of never getting around to making miniatures for anything.

I must agree...something is better than nothing :/.

Having looked more closely, I think it might just be a cruddy paintjob. I mean, the Skrag his the same model, and looks infinitely better with it new paint job...

I actually like the head and body of the gorger... It's just the pose I don't like, Its not that hard to reposition the arm though so i guess I'm kind of complaining about nothing, it would be nice to have some variation there but I guess we should just be happy that we got an update at all

I absolutely love the Gorger and always have. Can't believe people are slamming it in an army of fat-butts.

This seems like a good place to ask this... i LOVE these new models.. i am more then willing to sell all 2600 ish of my Warriors of Chaos for these guys... However before i go nuts.. How do ogers play? Rush forward and smush everything? I see they have a bit of magic, how is that, is it fun or again is it very bullheaded like and rush forward and smush

The only problem I had with them is the mono-pose. Now that they'll be in finecast, it'll be easier for non-sculpters like me to mod them into different poses other than the "Hey, high five over here!" pose.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Its tough to tell how they will play, but I don't think they will change much.

Ogres basically rely on blocks of Bulls and/or Ironguts to smash into the enemy. everything revolves around helping them accomplish this goal. Magic should be used to Buff them first, there are toughness, str, stubborn, and Regen buffs, and a couple of offensive spells. Ogres also have access to Lore of Beasts, the Sig spell should be taken in preference to others.

There are several basic styles of play.

MMU(many medium units): this relys on many units of around 9 ogres each. a block this sized can take on blocks of 30 or fewer infantry.

Deathstar: This relys on 1 or 2 Hordes of ogres(18+ ogres 6 wide and 3+ ranks deep) and has a massive advantage in point denial. its very difficult to get any victory points against it, although spells like Purple Sun and Pit of Shades can totally wipe a unit like this off the map.

That's basically the gist of it, although they have a few new toys which may make it more of subtle art (time is needed for a proper perusal of the book). Your main worry will be a lack of ranks which may cause you to lose combats.

hmm...they sound like they match my personality perfectly lol. I must find some way to field these beautiful models.. especially that giant brown/orange monstrous ..mount thing lol. Even if i have to use these guys as oh i don't know.. Warhammer 40k Deathwing.. each orger is a proxy for a hammer /shield termy and the Large beast could be a land raider -shrugs- i could make it work i think.

Gorgers would look fine if it wasn't for that arm.

Anyway, the new models look great. Anyone who had the misery of putting together a metal scrappie have had their prayers answered.
