Demonblade is doing nearly weekly releases of Former Demonblade sculpts, many of which have great proxy potential with GW games and average about $2.40 a piece! Rather than do a new thread each time, I'll just continue to update this one. With each release I'll update the first post with small pics and also add separate new post with larger pics.

August 4th 2012
Another batch of parts. Some nice tires and treads and lots of good stuff for orcs, but Space Marine players may find the cyber legs of interest:

http://freeboardgamesnow.com/sciencefictionpartsshop.aspx

June 25th, 2012
A batch of weapons and parts. The weapons pack is a re-release and the individual parts are mostly from a walker kit that has not been re-released yet. Most a buck or less each!

May 8th, 2012
Some of the early sculpt troopers. These don't actually originate with Demonblade games, most/all of these were sculpted by Grenadier miniatures for their "K-Force" line of figures that was almost completely made up of 40k proxyable figures. The line was purchased and expanded upon by Demonblade in the 90's.
10 figs 16 bucks!

Nov 23rd Finally the rerelease of the special weapons figs. (Autocannon, flamer, plasma, grenade launcher, missile launcher and ML loader)
Also a bulk deal of 15 different metal troopers for 32 bucks!

Oct 19th A whole slew of Tribal Elves. Originally called Vengequan, these would make great Ratskins or other sci-fi native americans. There's a nice bulk deal fo 20 figs for 38 bucks!

Oct4
Frontier Defense. Originally called Megacom troopers. More great IG proxy's.

Sept 16th
Frontier Defense Scouts. Possible proxy for IG Veteran Snipers?

Sept 16.
A few new "mutants", which is also the name of the faction they belonged to in Shockforce.

Sept 15th. Scroll down to see a PDF I uploaded of the 50+ unreleased IG/Imperial'ish figures from the Demonblade line.

From Sept 3rd.
Tribal Elfs, Called Vengequan originaly. These slightly elfish Native Americans with lasguns/autogns could have possible use as Ratskin. There are a ton of other sculpts in this faction to come.

From Aug 31.
These are the most recent from Mega Mins. They were formerly part of DemonBlade's Shockforce game, that Mega Mini's has been slowly rereleasing.

Three not-assasins on the right and Magdalena Dux (shockforce name) on the left

And the not-female-space-marines.

Talk about nuns with guns...

The sculpts are a bit dated, but at $2.38 a piece and very reasonable shipping, they are a pretty great deal.

In case you missed my post a while back about the GW'ish Demonblade reissues, here's a few others:

IG'ish figs. There's alot more in this series that haven't been re-released yet including heavy's, specials, officers, commisars, etc.

Grots.

Beastmen

They can all be found here: http://megaminis.com/
but beware, they are fairly well buried in the site.

I play alot of different miniature games and I'm not trying to be incendary but rather honest. These mini's compared to other games out there on the market right now, look aweful. They need up the ante. Even GW wise they look aweful and I'm not a big fan of the aesthetic but the GW models look sharp.

No arguments here. These figures date from the 90's and are not up to current GW levels. Even back then many of them weren't particularly great sculpts.

However, I have the troopers that are pictured in the third row, and they compare very favorably with the 90's metal Cadians. The paintjobs don't do them any favors. In person they are clean sculpts that even have separate backpacks. The grots also compare very well with mid 90's GW grots.

As with all older figure lines, you may have to pick and choose.

The power armor figs suck bad, but the not IG are definitely passable Guard/Traitors esp. with autoguns.

Well, first, they are almost 20 year old sculpts. Second, they are rereleases not new work, "up the ante" really doesnt apply. Comparing them to current generation scifi minis is like comparing old Ral Partha D&D minis to Avatars of War minis.

Yes, they are not very good, even in their day they werent the best, but it helps to understand what something is before you jump all over it.

Thats because these are recasts as well...

They were the cats meow back in the day. Considering that it was all we had. Other companies had these figures, these guys did not come up with the sculpts, they were cranked out back then alongside GW's. (How do you think GW got the reputation that they did?)
It sure wasn't from anything they've come out with recently.

These were the O.G. minis of note from back in the day. 5 bucks a bag of 20 sort of O.G. Seeing as they were alongside D and D 1st edition Ral Partha, Grenader, and RAFM? these were awsome.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Funny thing is the rules still stand up quite well compared to modern games. They arent as detailed as 40k, but if you want a game that allows huge armies and still plays smooth and quick it cant be beat. The fact that it has creation rules puts it over the top. Use any minis you want, and give them the stats you want so they play exactly the way you want...that cant be beat.

Also of note...the same company made a game based off the band Gwar, including minis of all the band members.

I don't think these were recasts at any point. AFAIK, Megaminis (and Demonblade I asssume) bought the molds as well as the masters.

"Recasts" implies that they are illegal copies or at least copies made without the beneifit of original molds and Masters.

I think though, that I recall Johnny (owner of MegaMinis) did comment that some of the molds had worn pretty badly and might have to be "remastered" (not the same as "recast") for certain pieces coming from Demonblade.

I think that Johnny doesn't have any of the GWAR molds. Rumor is that they were destroyed sometime after the license ran out. Too bad, as there were some really off the wall figs in that line.

Comparing them to current recently sculpted/designed figs isn't appropriate as the initial Demonblade line was made to "compete" with 2nd edition 40k figs in both style and quality... sort of the Mantic of their day (and IIRC they were even sued by GW which is why the orks went from 40k orks to postapocalyptic mafia gangsters).

Compare price points before you compare sculpts. GW has priced themselves to the level of being a luxury product. Do we expect the same level of quality from a Dodge that we do from a BMW? No, so it stands to reason that we shouldn't expect a $3 model to match the sculpting quality of a $18 model.

Nevermind that Daemonblade figures date from the late 90s . Glad to see that the models are back in print. They were good for their time, and there were some very characterful sculpts in the line.

I'll admit to not reading all of the OP's post, or all of the ones after. My first thoughts upon looking at the figs was that they were not terribly good, and looked like GW's old old stuff. Then I skimmed some of the replies, and oh, they're from 20 years ago, so that makes perfect sense.

I didn't like these figs that much when they were first released, but now that I'm doing more post apoc, I can see alot of uses for them, not the least of which would be a really affordable way to make a necromunda ratskin gang when more of the line is released.

Not an update persay, but here's a PDF I made for myself to track the completeness of my collection. It's pictures of nearly all the 50+ Shockforce Megacom (IG/Imperial'ish) troopers, charachters and vehicles from the former Demonblade website. I got them off the Warengine yahoo group and condensed them one 3 page PDF. It may have some omissions as the pictures only seem to be what Demonblade was producing at the end and there had been a few dropped figs. For example, I have an officer fig from the series that is not included below.

Either way, it's nearly complete and a nice peak at what IG proxy'able figs might be released over the next year.

Enjoy!

Very excited about this weeks release. These are some of the Megacom figs that I've never seen in person. The Megacom Snipers.

Released as "Scouts" under the "Science Fiction Frontier Defense Force" heading, I think they'd make great IG vet snipers or just vets with the scopes trimmed off. As usually the pics don't do the figs any favors, but you get the idea and like the other figs, they're only $2.38 each!
