Ancient Chaos Terminator

Two-headed Nurgle Chaos Dragon conversion work in progress. This shows the main conversion work of building the model with two heads and necks including the Apoxie Sculpt sculpting work blending the parts to the body. An extra vertebrae and ribs with accompanying detail have been sculpted in the neck join. This second stage photo shows primary construction of the Nurgle Chaos Lord rider. These images are in my Dakkadakka Gallery at http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-13937-4970_Chaos%20Warriors.html Next up for this project is maybe a bit more detail to the dragon or rider and then planning out the scenery for the base. Then, painting.

Thats looking great! Did you actually have to buy a second neck piece or does the kit come with two? I might end up having to steal this idea regardless!

Thanks! It comes with a neck for the Terrorgheist and a separate neck for the Dragon. I bought two kits, I plan to build a Terrogheist with the second kit. I used the extra Dragon head and neck from the second kit to do this conversion.

Thats awsome. I definitely can't wait to see some more progress on this. Any plans to make the rider a bit more Nurgle-y or even the dragon (decaying flesh, etc)?

The dragon actually has decaying flesh modeled on it already. The rider's cloak is very tattered. My focus for more atmosphere will probably be the base, maybe a fetid swamp or something.

It is missing one thing that is quintessentially Nurgle though, pustules and infected looking tissue. It is indeed very close to Nurgle already as are any semi-fleshed undead... The terrogheist looks dessicated and leathery, but not diseased.
I must agree that the piece is missing a few small touches to clearly make it Nurgle. Fortunately, if you choose to agree with the assesment, making GS additions to pus it up a touch would be quite quick and easy.
That being said, a strong paintjob could make it sufficiently Nurgly in and of itself. The rider is looking perfect though!

Wow. That's looking pretty sweet. Pustules should be easy to sculpt with Aves Sculpt. Just roll out some small balls of putty press them on and blend them in with rubbing alcohol. I wouldn't add to many though, around the borders of the rents in the skin, etc.

This Nurgle Chaos Dragon conversion is now almost complete. A few more plastic bits and some additional sculpted details have been added since the previous stage. A removable back banner will likely be added and the scenic base done up a bit, then painting will begin.

The pustules definitely Nurglified the beast! I like it a lot. If I gave one critic, the necks seem a little stumpy for a dragon, but that's just being picky honestly Having seen it tonight at the store, it is indeed awesome! The rider certainly seems Nurglish.
I also like the bit on the back of the head.
Great job overall though!
 + = NURGLE!

... I can't say I like it. I'm trying to see it as Nurgle, I really am, but I only see a two headed zombie dragon. I think the issue I have with it, is that Nurgle (to me) isn't about rotten to nothing. I see it as ill, infected flesh, and distended bellies. Sores, and the like. Sure, the occasional ribcage exposure is fine, but I think to the degree this guy is, I just... it doesn't work for me. Sorry, I can see you have put a lot of work into it, and I applaud you for the effort, but...
The rider however is all kinds of pimp.

@ghosty One thing you might want to think about with Nurgle is that while he is the Plague Lord, he is much more than that.
From the 40kwikia for example: Nurgle the Plague Lord is the most ancient of the four major Chaos Gods, for he is the psychic manifestation of the most predominant collective fear of all sentient beings: the fear of death. Nurgle is the embodiment of disease, decay and the death these states ultimately bring to all living things.
One could actually effectively argue that all necromancers, vampires, mummies, zombies, etc are all followers of Nurgle. Perhaps not directly, but indirectly.
I'm not trying to change your opinion, just open your eyes to the full glory that is Nurgle
I agree 100% that the rider is all sorts of pimp
