So, I've been on dakka for a few months, and this issue keeps bugging me. Dakka keeps logging me off! If I don't surf on dakka for 5 minutes or so, I'm being logged off - also happens WHEN I'm surfing dakka, just not as fast (maybe 30 minutes). It's becoming more and more annoying. I don't think it's my computer settings, since I'm an active user on about 10 other forums, for many years, and never had this problem. (And yes, I remember to check off the "keep me logged in" button.)
We have some aggressive technology in place to prevent user hijacking. Are you on a shared connection (school, work) which has other dakka users? Are you using a proxy server? Are you using a web browser which might be changing any other identifying information as you use it?
It is also possible that something strange has happened with your cookies - try clicking logout, clearing all cookies associated with dakka (and for that you must not be viewing dakka at the time or it will re-establish them in the background), and then restart your browser. Try logging in again with 'remember' set and it might be ok.

Thanks for the reply! I'm using Win7 with IE8 (or whatever the newest one is), at home - and I've just erased my cookies - I'll see how it goes. Thanks so far.
I think one of the compatibility mode things in IE8 breaks the dakka login process a bit as well. Search how to toggle that on/off if you still have a problem after clearing your cookies.

I have the same problem as guitaRasmus. When I go in another thread I'm be logging off automatically...
I have Windows 7 and my IE is actual, too.
But I still tried these hints... :(
Off the top of my head I cannot remember the exact underlying cause as it is something specific to IE. It is usually the compatibility mode, but it could be something else. I remember we did fix the problem for someone once in the past in this forum, so some clever searching might reveal the answer.

I'm having a similar problem, and have just spent a good while searching through previous threads with little luck.
I use my laptop both at home and at work. I used to use my desktop at home before it died, and was able to stay logged on. At work I had to log in again every time I visited, but just accepted that this was a quirk of the school network clashing with Dakka's strict security. Now that my laptop is my sole computer it bugs me that I can't stay logged on at home like I used to on the desktop. This seems to have gotten worse recently. When I'm simply browsing threads I can generally only stay logged on for 5-10 minutes, but when replying I've had to log on several times within the space of a single minute.
I tried logging off, clearing my cookies then logging back on and checking the box. I managed a fairly long session but I was still logged off after a while. I'm now back to square one, having to constantly log on every few minutes and having to find my place in a thread over and over again because I got logged off last time I read it without realising. Having read a bunch of previous threads I'm now going to delete my cookies again and stay away from Dakka for 30 minutes before logging on again.
I'm using IE 9 on Windows 7 x64. This is the only forum I have to log on to regularly.
Edit: Ironically I was able to write this entire post without being logged off, but when I tried to immediately add this edit to celebrate that fact I had to login again.

This helped me, cheers! It was getting really annoying when you forget to copy your posts before posting them.
