So, I'm looking at compressors, and came across a Senco PC1010 Compressor. It looks awful tempting, has good reviews, and I could use it for tools as well as for my airbrushes.

That being said, I don't know this brand. Googling around only found one review (which was positive), and the Amazon ones are more or less good. Does anyone know anything about this one? Is it overkill? The price is someone less then a "hobby" style compressor. Alternately, can anyone recommend a good solid compressor in the same price bracket? Must include a tank.

How well does it compare with this one?

I also considered this one, but the reviews are not so hot.

I know this has come up before on Dakka and I read some old threads, but I was primarily interested on opinions on that first one.

Still hoping for advice, if not on this specific compressor, then on the feasibility of using a heavy duty compressor like this instead of a hobby-style paashe\iwata\etc.

The one from TCPglobal is probably the best. Look at this one too.

The first one I do not know.

I think I have the second one!. It works good enough for me.

the third dewalt is more used for aircompressed power tools. I dont know if that is any good for fine airbrush action!

I still use my large 50 gallon compressor that I use for my air tools as well. I put a badger hose with an inline water trap and am in business. As long as it has a regulator on it you should be good to go. The beauty of the ones with the big tanks are you do not need to refill them very often. So when I go to airbrush, I can fill up the tank to 120 PSI, put the regulator on 35 or less, slap on the badger hose and go to work never having to turn the compressor on for over an hour or more. The great part is I can use the same compressor, like I did today, for driving my air crown stapler. This weekend I will be using it to install hardwood flooring with my flooring stapler and last weekend I used the same compressor to drive my finish nailer. I love air tools! All with the same compressor.

So if you think air tools may be in your future, I'd get something with at least a 2 gallon tank or more. Just know that the ones you are looking at and mine are VERY loud when they are filling the tank.

So, yeah, I can use an air tools compressor with an airbrush? Sure sounds like it...

As an addendum to this, I did order and had delivered the Senco I was considering. I used it twice and it's not so hot for airbrushing. It weighs a ton, is super loud, and runs constantly. The tank fills and then it kicks back on within a minute or two. I don't know if it's actually defective or if I just didn't tape the pipes well enough, but ultimately, I don't yet own any air tools and I'm 35. I'll reconsider this when I actually do buy air tools, but for now, I'm returning it and looking for a different one more appropriate for airbrushing.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Go to Sears or Homedepot and pick up a 2 gallon air compressor. There is no need to buy an air brish specific compressor and getting something with a 1 gallon tank is next to pointless.

I personally use http://www.tractorsupply.com/tools/air-compressors-air-tools-accessories/air-compressors/campbell-hausfeld-2-gallon-air-compressor-3810624 Although you may not be lucky enough to have a Tractor Supply close by.
