Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes
|
I'm up an IA-styled fluff piece for my Emperor's children warband, the Fulgrim's Angels, heres the WIP. I'm look for C&C and thoughts on it, please.
Origins :
The Fulgrim’s Angels started as a group within the Emperor’s children before the Heresy began. Gabriel Mavet, a young marine, worked his way into the first company, and through a combination of his great charisma and his ambition, he rallied others to his cause within the legion. He spoke of how they were the perfect warriors, and the simple fact they were children of Fulgrim placed them higher than the other astartes. This resolute belief twisted the astartes in his secretive group to their belief that the Phoenician was above the Emperor in his perfection.
The group began small, and after the cleansing of Laer, it swelled with members who believed they have reached perfection, spreading by the word of members to those they could sway to Mavet’s cause. Mavet then began to openly encourage the heavy modification of equipment, claiming that as they had reach the perfection of astartes, they would bring their weapons and armour up to be worthy of being wielded by them.
The Heresy :
Mavet’s followers belief in they had reached perfection as astartes led them to stay resolute of this belief during the hours heresy, largely avoiding their legions fall to Slaanesh. However, they did not prove immune. Mavet, influenced by whispers of Slaanesh, suddenly realizing that there was a higher power, higher than the even The Emperor, told his followers that they had reached the pinnacle they could as astartes, and the only way to reach the brilliance of their Primarch was to become a new breed of soldier.
As the legion around them collapsed into debauched worship of slaanesh, The Angels also fell pray, slaanesh tempted them to her worship with promises of reaching The Phoenician’s perfection. They avoided the fate of those Cleansed from the legion during the Istvaan Virus bombings due to a combination of luck, and fierce loyalty to Fulgrim, no matter what he may have become.
The angels fought as group during the dropsite massacre on Istvaan V, quickly grouping under the banner of Mavet. This led to them seeing Fulgrim’s decapitation of Ferrus Manus. At that moment, a cheer rose from the group as they saw their primarch prove his perfection against one of his brothers.
After the battle of Terra, as the Emperor’s Children fled to the Eye Of Terror, Mavet stole a ship, called his followers onto it. They found themselves almost disgusted by his legions fall. Mavet kept his worship of Slaanesh a secret from his followers, subtly pushing them closer and closer to it. He claimed to his followers that the legion had pushed themselves too far, and had instead fallen from grace as astartes. He told them that the highest power in the galaxy, higher than Fulgrim and the Emperor, had told him to lead them to their destiny,
Mavet followed the legion’s path to the Eye Of Terror, eventually breaking off before entering it to lead his warriors and followers on a campaign to find enemies worthy of their perfection.
Post heresy and Mavet’s ascension :
Eventually fleeing into the eye of Terror, Mavet’s followers attacked the Imperium whenever they were able to, forever eager to test their mettle against the loyal astartes. They follow slaanesh in secret, knowing they had fallen, but not openly demonstrating it. Slaanesh had promised Mavet perfection, and he was eager to gain it from his patron, constantly fighting in her name. As the years rolled by into their thousands, Mavet slowly gathered blessings from his patron, and became increasingly insular, and eventually forbidding those within his warband from gazing upon his flesh. He constantly wore his power armour or terminator armour. The pinnacle of his patron’s gifts was a glamour that made his flesh appear perfect, akin to the glamour on the daemonettes.
Mavet gained the perfection he sought on a war torn hive world, where his followers and a warband of World Eaters clashed violently. He found the World Eaters’ leader in a hive, and was followed by his second in command. After a long wait, only Mavet emerged, but rather than an astartes, he was a snake-like daemon prince. In his new form, he led his warriors on a cleanse, removing the World Eaters presence and claiming the planet in the name of slaanesh. After the battle, He called his followers to them, and said he had reached the perfection of Fulgrim, and that everyone should follow him into this perfection. He adopted the name “The New Primarch”, Claiming he was now more powerful than Fulgrim himself.
The Twisted and the new homeworld:
3 millennia after Mavet reached his perfection, in M40, they came across a world in the eye of terror. It was a destroyed planet, a deathworld that was a barren desert, with a seemly abandoned fortress on its pole. The Fulgrim’s Angels entered the fortress, led by their master, and found it not abandoned, but the throne instead seated upon by a Warrior, dressed in a set of black and white, archaic armour, with a large axe sitting across his lap. In front of him stood two guards, wearing the same archaic, black and white armour, and armed with archaic weaponry, all three seemingly from a Feral world. The warrior welcomed them with open arms, claiming he was attempting to turn this into a pleasure planet in the name of slaanesh.
This warrior left with the Fulgrim’s Angels into the Imperium, slaying at the head of the battle, next to Mavet. He took to the technology used by The Angels with great fervor, utilizing it to great effect. Howeve, His appearance led to a sudden decline in the warband, with many issues arising during their raids, varying from failed ambush attacks to the complete loss of ships for inexplicable reasons. This led to many in the warband speaking against the new Warrior, Claiming he was unlucky, or conspiring against Slaanesh, But Mavet ignored these, his arrogance blinding him.
Beliefs :
The warband’s belief in the goal of perfection has been twisted to a belief that they have yet to reach the perfection of the chaos daemons, and every member aspires for the glory of becoming a daemon prince. They fight for glory, forever trying to prove their worth against any enemy who will stand in their way. They follow the Daemon prince Mavet with great fervor, believing he will lead them to the perfection greater than Fulgrim. They further believe that they are the chosen warriors of the chaos gods, and that all the other followers are below them, particularly the brutal followers of Khorne, whom they see as uncultured barbarians.
The Fulgrim’s Angels kept their ideal of perfecting their equipment, leading to the development of the “eternity” pattern bolters and “mavet” pattern bolt pistols, along with a pattern of armour unique to them, based on the ancient mark 1 armour used by the techno-barbarians from before the great crusade.. They keep close ties to the dark mechanicus, ensuring that they are able to gain the supplies for these unique patterns and the constant modifications they perform on their equipment. The most popular marks of armour in the warband remain the marks 5 and 6, with the occasional heavily modified mark 2 or 3 piece appearing in the possession of the marines, and the custom pieces reminiscent of mark 1.
The fierce belief in their own perfection has led them to largely avoid falling prey to the lure of unbridled sensation, but they have not been immune. A large number of the warband are addicted to combat drugs, which are constantly reinvented and changed by the apothecaries. They think that these drugs, particularly the hallucinogenic drugs, allow them to reach new levels as warriors, beyond the level of astartes. Recent years have lead to an extremely sharp rise in noise marines within the warband, Marines addicted to sensation of any form. The Angels let these marines loose on the enemy, their combat frenzy making them formidable opponents.
Im looking for constructive critisism on this. I still need to do their recruitment and their geneseed, along with Mavet's personal section.
