Spoiler:

I had a building full of 2 devastators, 1 sternguard, and a scout squad, and an enemy walked up to the three red circles

Can I give the guys in the window LoS as if they were actually at the window? or not?

And if so/not can someone please point me towards the rule and relevant page?

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand the question... If they're at the window, they're at the window. So if the models can see those guys at the 3 red circles from where they are, they can shoot them...

It is impossible for a model to lean forward... so anything below about a 60 degree incline can't be seen even though its completely reasonable for a unit to lean forward up to their round base and shoot

Then if that's how it pans out on the table, that's how it works.

LOS relies on actual LOS from the firer to the target.

it was in my spearhead deloyment zone, so I couldn't pass that up

...okay you went where I went... head has to "see" target... but

HOUSE RULE:

I told my club that movement would allow looking down... so assault/rapid fire type weapons could "move" to shot through their own base (in effect)... but that heavy weapons would have to use true LoS

Do any of you have house rules/ compromises along those lines?

By RAW, it would be hard for most of the models in that ruin (just to be pedantic with the terminology) to see the three circles.

My local group has come up with a simple house rule: models in base contact with a window or a low barrier on a ruin may draw line of sight from the windowsill itself. Only one model can fire in this way through a window, but any number of models can fire over a low barrier (such as at the top of that ruin in the picture example) provided they are in base contact with it.

In the rulebook, there is something similar. Page 22, bottom bullet, Firing over a barrier.

I'd say the window in this case is a piece of terrain they can see over.

But in firing over the barrier, they can fire at enemies on the other side if they are in base contact with a barrier, "...they can see over..." so TLOS rules still apply.

Cheexsta's house rule is a good one, but by RAW, if you can't trace LOS from the eyes of the firing model to the target, you can't shoot at it.
