If you can't enjoy losing a game to a friend, maybe try scotch instead of beer.

Perhaps read the part in the BRB where it says that 40k is a GAME.

Yeaaaah... don't take this the wrong way, but you all sound like twerps. Cheating and treating a game like super-srs bzns.

1.) Play by the rules
2.) Calm the feth down

i just feel like sometimes they do cheat and have no idea what they're talking about. I'm considered the game master because im the one who knows all the rules, who read the BRB as a noob from cover to cover so many times just to get the rules down, who has all the painting equipment blah blah blah.

Its just sometimes they come out of nowhere with "Yeah well he's a genestealer so he's this tough so and so" then i look up the rules, the codex, everything and theres nothing what they say. I just wish they knew the game as well as I did and I could play with set rules instead of everyone making up crap then i have to look everything up.

Like every night my girl friend doesn't remember her kabilites ' stats and I do and i've never played a game as Dark Eldar. She's always like "What's it to hit again?"

I mean common you've played how many games with Dark Eldar?? Then my brother throws in his Hive Tyrant like its some kind of god and throws a freakin tantrum because i got a lucky one shot off with a Leman Russ. "No you don't get 5 psychic attacks then get to shoot your freaken venom cannon"

It just pisses me off to no end.

I feel like a every game theres 30 cases to settle like i'm a judge or something. I'm the one who looks it up in the end. Sometimes a game feels more like work then a game. gak, i wish i had some master mind playing with me to tell me what I have to hit, wound, save, who gets a save, if the unit can be shot, blah blah blah blah.

Btw I field 2 armies, IG and SM but you know what? I bet i can tell you the stats of Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, and Necrons weapons by heart not to mention people's special rules WBB I had to teach to a necron player. Like ugh. ( The sad part is, i have to teach it over and over, yeah and i've only been playing for 3 months)

If you are the game master for your group but do not feel appreciated, speak up or just play.

Talking gets a lot done. And if there are still issues play your game, and let them play theirs. If people ask for rules, tell them to look them up, you are playing.

If you have a set of people you always play with - and with mention of your girlfriend playing it seems this is the case - it is not likely you are going to find a new gaming group. That would be the next suggestion.

Sometimes it can be worthwhile to say your piece (peace?) and then skip a night or two of gaming.

Above all, try to laugh, especially when people do crazy things.

Also, my first reponse is still true.

This. If your friends can't be bothered to learn how the game plays then they aren't worth playing against.

The only person I allow to not know the rules is my wife because she just enjoys rolling the dice when I say it's time to. For her I don't mind doing most of the work(which includes painting her models and writing her army lists).

I'll echo the sentiment to find new people to game with. That just sounds unpleasant...and 40k is supposed to be fun, not some kind of part time referee job.

Sounds like it would make things even worse by adding drunkenness to the mix.

Tell your friends to read the rules....and follow them.

If you like them , help them, get them crib sheets with some of thier models and any little quirks.

Provide your Lady with the BS table, show her where to find the stats.

The little 2-3 pages at the back of the BGB are brilliant for this, plus the last page of the codex.

Teach them. Help them learn.

If they refuse or are too ignorant to do so, find people who will.

A bunch of my friends just got into 40k, I'm still calling out to them you need this, you need that, but it only comes with time and the ability to process things subconciously, some people don't remember things well, or don't care enough to.

My friends, to be fair to them, are doing pretty well.

I'm definitely taking in what everyone is saying and I've come to the conclusion that I will say my piece (Peace?) [lul] to them and make them understand how i feel and such. And you all mentioned finding knew people to play with; That just doesn't really seemed possible because my girlfriend is attached at my hip and my brother kind of relies on me (I dont mean to toot my own horn) besides I'm leaving for the army in 4 months.

So i'll tell you what i will do.
Before every game, everyone needs to take 2 shots. That will be your ticket to playing. Then, if and when people get a little bit frustrated we'll just take a 5 minute break and relax then get back to it, letting the dice decide who is right (If the answer is not in the BRB)

And if the crap of tantrums keep up, it won't matter; for I'll be in georgia in March.

And i'll say Respect before anything else when playing.

Don't 40k players just say awesomesauce before anything else when playing. So irriating!

Leave em, go find another group. You'll look like a cock to them, they'll ask why, then you can say why.

Unless you're all 3months in to it, in which case it may just take the rest of em a while longer to get t o grips with so much information. In which case you may be seen as a twerp, as you're getting frustrated that your group don't have the crazy mind power that you do that helps you to retain so much information in a short period of learning it

direct them to pg 2 of the BGB and the section entitled "the most important rule". If they still argue beat them with the BGB until they stop whining/unconcious (whichever comes first).

I find if one person knows all the rules/stats it makes the others lazy and they just ask you all the time.

This of course gives them more time to bitch and cheat.

I would get everyone together and tell them how you feel personally.
