What: 1850 point 40k tournament

When: Saturday, January 21st, 2012 Tournament to start 9am, store opening at 830am.

Where: Borderlands Comics and Games on Laurens Road in Greenville, SC. 864-235-3488. www.borderlands.us

Who: You! We sold out all 30 spots last tournament, so register early!

Entry Fee: $10

Format:

This will be a 4 round tournament with 2.5 hour rounds. Be there at 830am, with dice rolling at 9am. We will start without you!

In each of the 4 rounds, there will be 4 objectives. 3 of them will be unknown to your opponent. The other is how well you stop them from achieving their objectives. See attached files for a listing of all possible objectives as well as scoring information.

There will be awards given for painting, sportsmanship, general, and overall.

** A note on format - this is something I have wanted to try for a long time. In playtesting the games have been fun and exciting. I understand that this in no way is a perfectly balanced system, as each player will not be playing the same missions. However, I do believe it encourages a more balanced army list (see objectives) and makes more a more "adjust tactics on the fly" type of tournament. The whole "kill the opponent's troops and I cannot lose" thought will not win the tournament (again, see objectives). Please PM me with any questions, and I will answer them publicly as soon as I can.

Sounds interesting. Since we are normally trying to blow each other up anyway, it will be fun to see what moves might give away your objectives.

There are plans for an Osaka exit on I-85, but it looks like construction will take about 300 years.

Planning on attending. I will be visiting family before heading to MS; it would be good to get a few games in before leaving for the long term.

Called the store Friday... clerk said theyre not taking reservations yet.... Will try again Monday I suppose.

Looks like I'll need to break out the paints...and rules. Got to get back in a 40k mindset. Twitch if you need a playtester let me know.

No problem, can't wait to see what they are. To be honest your tournaments have gotten be back into caring about 40k again.

Anyway if anyone in the Greenville area wants a game. I'm at Boarderlands most Thursdays and Saturdays, just let me know so I can knock the dust off my Eldar.

We were about 8-10 last time. My DW got hammered by juice in the second round. The side board for the army list was pretty awesome. Looking forward to what Twitch cooks up this time. It should prove to be both fun and challenging

Updated post with info, scoring, and the most important thing, the possible objectives.

These look awesome! It should be an exciting tourney.

They look great. It is also refreshing to see a store that gives out the entire entry fee in prizes and doesn't make excuses for keeping the money in the store instead of giving it out to the players. Furthermore, the breakdown is also there. I was in Augusta yesterday telling them about the tournament. I don't know if there are spots still left.

After hearing about this event from crazy beans I think I'll have to make an effort to come...the 2 hour trip seems a little long after SCARAB this weekend; however, we'll see if I can't coax a carpool group or not.

Got the same problem. Three tournament weekends in a row is a hard sell to the g/f. However I have only ever heard great things about the tournaments they run up there so I am going to give it a try. Always seem to be on weekends I cannot make. Might skip out on Sunday of SCARAB and see if that might help me get clearance for this one.

Sorry to back out, had a conflicting event scheduled that I was hoping to resolve. Unfortunately, no such luck befell me. I'll try to stop by in th afternoon to see how it's going.
