So ive been a 40k since around 2005 and I still love it and have alot of fun with it. Yesterday though I decided I wanted to venture over here and I picked up a Khador Menoth starter set and im pretty psyched about it. From what ive seen of the models they look great and ive heard great things about their casts. My question is what is the background of Warmachine? Whats the purpose of the game fluff-wise? And lastly could someone briefly explain to me how a normal game is played? I am a huge modeller and painter so thats really what has given me the initial interest in this game, I do admit though that I havent really looked into the gameplay itself. Of course when I get the set in the post in a few days I will read all about it but until then I would like to learn more. Thanks in advance!

It is probably easiest described as "steampunk".

2 Warcasters and part of their army fighting. Usually ending either by a scenario or by assassination.

The game in my experience tends to be a fast pace game once you get the rules down. There is a steep learning curve due to the number of combos and assassination runs you may not see. I wouldn't worry about jumping to larger points totals until you get a hang of the rules down.
