Noob question about swarms.
I understand that blasts and templates do double damage against swarms and that double strength weapons instakill bases but what does a combination of those do?
ex. (correct me if I am wrong):
when firing a s3 template at a scarab swarm each wound suffered becomes two wounds,
when firing a s6 shot that wounds the unit it autokills a base,
when firing a s6 template what happens?

You double your unsaved wounds and then remove a complete, if possible unwounded, swarmbase for each wound.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.

The swarm-owning player breaks into tears is what happens. Double each wound as per the VtB&T rule, then start removing whole bases for each wound.

can spyders spawn swarm bases when the swarm unit is in combat?

As of right now, yes they can as there is nothing specificly prohibiting it.

Or rather, yes they can because they are allowed to spawn bases with no restrictions placed on the state of the scarab unit.
