Well after a very long break I finally got my hobby station set up in the garage.
So now I can get back to work on my CSM. I'm starting with my Chosen that I converted using the WFB beastmen, with a liberal sprinkling of posessed and CSM bits.
My painting process is very slow, I like to take my time with each model and work on my technique, plus I hardly ever play prefering instead the modeling side of the hobby.
I'm starting with this guy:
I'm using the black and white priming method described here. Basically I prime the model black and then from a couple different angles I spray it lightly with white. This gives my paint a better surface to grip, and also helps me see where the light is going to fall when I begin working up my highlights.
I'm starting on the armour and trying out some new techniques on wet blending.
Now blue for the counter points of the armour.
My color theme can be seen here on a model I painted before I took a hiatus. This is the general theme I want, but like I said I'm really trying to better my skills so this time around I want to show a marked improvement!

Thanks. I really like incorporating WFB chaos bits in my csm army. Just seems to give it a different flavour, compared to standard spikey marines.

Finished my first guy. Now I just need to work out a good assembly line process for the rest of the squad!
I'm still trying to find a better way to do dried blood on the weapons. Anybody have a suggestion?

Started on the rest of the crew. I'm trying a different technique with the purple armour - trying to find a good way to speed up the process. I started with a 2:1 mix of blue ink and warlock purple. Got these from Reaper Minis. If you haven't tried them out, do yourself a favor and check out their paints. I'd put them on par with Vallejo, and the selection is outstanding. After the initial basing I went over it with a 1:1 mix, but what I do is kind of slap the two paints together withour truly mixing them to get the marbled effect, which you can't really see in the pictures unfortunately....

Love your conversion work on those beasties but the green in your color scheme really ruins it for me. It makes the models look cheap and corny. The models are gorgeous though.. really ace.

I guess I see what you mean about the green, although I really like it alot. I did it to contrast the dark armour and give a sense of otherworldly mutation as opposed to run of the mill GW schemes. Thanks for the compliment, I really worked hard on making a seemless kitbash.
