So i picked up the starter box along with Skarlock, and just finished painting them, where should i go from there? i was thinking a Siren, Bane Lord Tartarus with Banethralls or Bloodgorgers with the General guy? Is there a solid unit or two i can take that have a good chance of success?

I also have recently started playing Cryx so take my advice with a careful consideration but your suggestions are some of the most common purchases suggested for new players looking to expand. Of the choices listed I'd guess that Bloodgorgers are the most situational choice (but still very good). You can always run Bane Thralls and BLT also pairs well with them so that's a pretty solid choice. The Warwitch Siren is also pretty awesome. In short, everything you've listed will serve you pretty well. The only other route I'd suggest is to pick up a unit of Mechanithralls. They're cheap and hit hard. Once you have them you might want to consider getting a Necrosurgeon to make more Mechanithralls while you play.

The Necrosurgeon and her thralls are a unit with a field allowance of 2, they are completly independent of mechanithralls. But if you want to field mechanithralls you should definitely bring a necrosurgeon
Pistol wraiths are not bad, but are rather expensive point wise and not always useful, there are better solos like the Warwitch siren in cryx

The pistol wraiths are great with Deneghra1 (the battlebox caster). She can reduce defence and armour of the target easily and make them a real threat. One trick is to use Denny's Scourge spell via an arc node to knock down the enemy caster and then you have an easy to hit caster that the pistol wraiths can go to town on.
However, some people believe that they are too expensive and should be 2.5 points each. I can see their point because as soon as they have made an attack they become very fragile. But they will piss off an easy to hit target like heavy jacks/beasts.
