Yup. As long as your percentages work. You can only repeat the same rare twice, so as long as you keep it at that, you can do fine. You could even have 2 catapults and even 2 caskets (unless the rules say you can only have 1 of something like the anvil for dwarves).

There is of course an exception to the "only 2 of the same rare" rule.

High Elves are allowed to field more than 2 of the same rare choice. IIRC they get 4 of the same rare, and up to 6 of the same special choice.

Some armies can take duplicate choices. O&G can take 2 spear chukkas per entry.

yes, but since you dont take "entries" anymore that rule doesnt matter they are still limited by the normal/grand army rules for numbers of warmachines as far as i know.

I know, i couldn't think of the word. I meant choices. You may take 1-2 Spear chukkas, which counts as 1 special choice.

That doesn't sound right. I don't have the High Elf Army Book on hand, but those are the general rules for a grand army. I'm not sure that the rules would allow one army to get more rares then others.

High Elves have always been allowed more special and rare than all the other armies. Its part of the fluff in that they are an "elite" fighting force.

It worked differently in 7th edition, so the codex won't be correct. The change was in the FAQ but the FAQ and Eratta are no longer on the GW website right now (curious as to why that might be).

I am 99% sure the High Elves are allowed more than the other armies, I am just not sure on the numbers.

As per the "Official Update Version 1.1" High Elves are allowed unlimited duplication of both Special and Rare choices.

As a general rule, you are only allowed 2 duplicate rares and 3 duplicate specials. at 3000 points and above these limits double to 4 and 6.

Add “Elite Army
The High Elves are few in numbers, but their armies are trained and equipped to standards so high that they are the envy of all other races. To represent this, an army may include
up to 6 of each Special choice (up to 12 in a Grand Army) and up to 4 of each Rare choice (up to 8 in a grand army).”
