Subject: Replacement Flight Stands?

I just bought a bunch of BFG ships off ebay and they have GW (I assume) flight stands that were glued in and broke in shipping.
So, I'd like to kill of the plastic flight stands in my collection (BFG, DW, , LotR, 40k, ...).
I see CorSec has some nice screw in flight stands, which look nice, but I need about 200 of them, which would cost me $600 or so.
I've seen some different AL flight stands (that escape me right now), that look good too. Although I feel a thread mount is superior to a press fit mount.
Can anybody recommend replacement flight bases?

I found a super cheap solution. I went to home depot and got a couple boxes of #6 steel machine screws, they come in 1 1/2" and 2"+ lengths and are about $2 a box for 20. I then bought a $3 countersink drill bit that was also labeled as #6 (made by Ryobi). Went home and drilled from the bottom of the flight base up and let the countersink bit bore out around the hole.
Take one of the screws and start twisting them up from the bottom, there is just enough room for the screws to cut their own threads in the plastic so they are very solid. Right at the end when they are almost flush with the underside of the base I put a drop of super glue in the screw hole and then screw it in until it is just snug.
Then you have a base with a nice tall, thick, steel threaded shaft sticking up.
Then I took the drill bit and drilled out the hole in the ship and started carefully screwing the new shaft up into the ship. The plastic ships are super easy and you can very the height and angle by just screwing them in more or less or at a slight angle. You can either glue them on so the stand is perm or not and just unscrew the ship when you want to transport them.
Then just prime the stands black and you are done.
I guess this doesn't work for the people that want the clear stand look but for me I wanted something rock solid and long lasting.

I have some of the corsec stands, and one note; you don't need 200 of them....you only need as many as you are going to field at one time.
I magnetized my small ships, and put the corsec plugs in the bottoms of the heavier ones (you could go cheap and use a nut).
Then I just made as many stands as I need for a single game.
So, while I have about 60 ships in my fleet, I will only use about 20 of them at once....so, I only need about 20 stands.

totally awesome and simple. Home Depot for the win!
The only reasons I would not do this would be I have very limited space to store my fleets and need to transport them separate from the bases.
However, this was great, thanks for sharing!!!!!

With the bigger cruisers, you don't have to glue them in. You can glue the metal stand in the base and not glue it into the ship. Escorts, not so much. Other ships were pretty snug on the base before gluing them. Give it a try! It's like $4 for one of those metal polls that are 3 feet long or so.

For smaller ships EM4 may be a good solution.
They are not large (25mm side to side, 30mm point to point and 35mm tall), but at about 10 cents a piece, the price is certainly right, and they're avaiable in black, clear and white

Scroll down about half way to see them.
EM4 is my go-to shop for bases of all sizes.
