What happned to the Chaplains during the Horus Heresy?

I seem to remember one chaos chapter retained them. Did all the others attack the traiors, get executed by the traitors, flee to loyalist chapters or what?

Chaplains didn't really exist at that time. Word Bearers were kinda unique in having them.

Many Legions had something similar, calling it by various names.

Some went to chaos, but most that tried to turn were executed by their fellow brothers, and some stayed loyal.
