Hello Dakka,

This year I look at starting a Death guard this year but I have no idea how to paint them besides use a greenish brown.

Can anyone give any tips or tutorials for how to paint them?

I just recently started a Death Guard army to add some versatility to my existing Alpha Legion force... I was lacking some Nurgle units and figured I'd add an army's worth.

I'm using a simple and really quick method...

1. Basecoat with Army Painter Rotting Flesh or Bleached Bone. Here's an example of Typhus... (Caveat: This is a crappy Typhus I bought off ebay and stripped of his 75 layers of paint... he's still not in great shape, but he's workable...

2. Paint Details - I painted all weapons and tubes/cables boltgun metal. "sores and open wounds were painted mechite red. Accents were done with Goblin green... I used Calthan for things like bags and pouches.

3. Devlan Mud wash....

4. Matte Seal and put on the gaming table!

Project "Log" can be found here for a few more pics and details...

I'm going to do a rust effect on the blade once I get the rest of the units completed... The army paints up super fast... it's not going to win best painted, but it looks great on the tabletop and provides a really good framework to go back and add detail to later....

So I found a paint scheme for them that I like and that is pretty easy to do.

Here's the results of it.

I also picked up a Nurgle Daemon Prince. I didnt care the head the GW gave me so I made my own even though I'm not to good at Modeling GS.

Sorry, I just saw your message on my Deathguard post from about 2 months ago. Here is my method.

1. Basecoat of Chaos Black spray

2. Paint them all with Gretchin Green Foundation Paint (I used a tankbrush and painted all models in a row)

3. Drybrush of Rotten Flesh

4. Paint small details like worms and Nurglings with Tanned flesh

5. Paint faces with rotten flesh

6. Paint, teeth and claws with Bleached Bone

7. Paint metal with Bolt Gun Metal

8. Paint any woden areas with Khemri Brown Foundation Paint

9. Devil Mud wash the entire model

10. Once the previous wash is dry, give the model a second wash but of Gryphonne Sepia this time

11. Base the model

12. All done

I start off with a primer coat of Rustoleum/Krylon Camo Green. Mix Rotting Flesh (or equivalent) and Vallejo American Dark Green up for highlights. Paint brass. Wash entire figure in brown.

How I do mine:

1. Halfords grey plastic primer

2. Entire model nurgling green (may need 2 coats in parts)

3. Drybrush of Ushabti bone

4. Very light drybrush of white (may try GW's drybrush specific stuff soon)

5. Paint all metal parts etc as normal

6. Wash entire model in 50/50 mix of agraxth earthshade and serephim sepia

7. Details as normal
