Hi Chaps and Chapesses!

Well since giving the ol' 40k a break and moving into the wonderful world of Warhammer I have noticed a lot more in the way of 'fine'cast resin models. However regardless of the issues I have with the stuff the one thing I truly cannot stomach is the price expected for the box of 5 yes indeed 5 Blood Knights - £61.50 or for our American friends $97.38 or maybe our Australian cousins - $90.50 and the list goes on! Of course the prices maybe cheaper or more expensive in your countries as these are just simply online conversions!

So apart from picking my jaw up from the floor and being utterly astonished at the temerity at this price I decided like some many I have seen to convert something into a Blood Knight. Looking through the many types of cavalry out there, I decided on the Chaos box set to change - much to the disgust of the GW chaps in my local store "why spend only £18.50 when you can spend £61.50 instead?!".

I used to convert a long time ago and have been trying to get back into it, so with various sharp impliments and a little time, here is the first of one of my conversions - just about done, needs more on the paint job etc.

I prefer the Chaos Knight conversion pattern to the Dragon Prince one, since imo Blood Knights need to be BIG.

One tip is to make sure to hack off as much of the Chaos iconography as you can on the other mounts (which, to my recollection, have a lot more of it than the first body/head combination you used). Nothing bugs me more than seeing an awesome kitbash project sullied by the creator having overlooked the brazen markings from a hated foe that pepper the components. :(

Yeah I do not like the look of a conversion with iconography from other armies! On this one, I had to cut away quite a number of the chaos arrows surrounding each piece of armour on both the steed and the rider!
I used liquid GS to flatten (as much as possible) the shield which had the screaming faces all over it. Now it looks like it could come from wood. The two parts I didn't try to deal with were the two chaos faces on either side of the horse's chainmail area. Also several spikes were removed and the head comes from my Strogoi/Terrorgheist set.
