Why the (6mm) is that supposed to be 76mm? or am I missing something?

hmmm...Okay heres my two pennies worth since you have asked for it.

The 2nd is a good unit Confident Vets (like my Lehr division) so are an all round excellent force.

Between the 6 x Sherman AT 10, and the 4 x 76mm AT 12 you've got a fairly good amount of high AT, another unit of Hellcats would would add another 4 x AT12 units.

Drop the Hellcats, they are exactly the same AT 12 as the 76mm, or at least reduce the Hellcats to 1 section. ( You could get an AT Gun section. a 57mm AT gun section (AT10!) is cheap and deadly in ambush)

I would get an armoured Recon unit (1 sections) with the leftover. In Version 3 you need Recon and AAA to keep your armour safe, if you don't have Recon a reasonably skilled player will ambush you on your side armour and you kiss goodbye to your tank platoons because even vehicles you don't think are a threat will probably be able to penetrate your side armour!

I also like Stuarts, they are quick and brilliant at what they do, and what they do is "murder infantry" and snatch objectives. Their AT 7 is a bit meh? But i like them (it's a personal thing).

Nice to see a 2000 point list. Would love to play you with my Lehr as it would be a nice even match.

US armour can perform most of the tasks of recon by themselves without using actual recon teams. Tank telephones to remove GtG and AOPs to detect ambushes.

Furthermore in V3 vehicles can fire their defensive AA (US armour is equipped with .50 cal AAs as standard) and still fire next turn.

You may also want to think about how your list could incorporate 105mm Shermans. Because if they get Breakthrough Gun they're going to be all kinds of awesome.

Normally I would agree about having too much anti-armor. My thoughts as far as taking so much was that the two confirmed opponents I have in a campaign I'm playing in both have heavy tank company's, so my thought was to bring more AT weaponry to deal with it. I will look at the 105 shermans though

Fair enough, if your fighting lots of Heavy Armour go for the Hellcats.

Even versus heavy armour the hellcats won't cut it. The USs best answer to heavy armour is avoid it, or assault it. Going toe to toe with it isn't advised.

Or just swarm them with your tanks.

Even a regular Sherman on the side is BAD news for a Tiger or Panther. And even Stuarts can murder Panthers from the side.

Tweaked the list a little bit and fixed an error (points for 75mm shermans allowed 5 tanks)

Company HQ w. 2 M4A1 Shermans and M31 TRV - 190

Medium Tank Platoon w. 5 M4A1 Shermans - 450
Medium Tank Platoon (76mm) w, 4 M4A1 76mm Shermans - 440

Armored Rifle Platoon w. 2 squads - 295
Corps Anti Aircraft Artillery Platoon w. 1 section - 80
Corps Armored Field Artillery Battery w. 1 section - 170
Sherman Assault Gun Platoon w. 2 tanks - 185

Priority P38 Lightning Air Support - 190

Total 2000pts

Better or worse?

I don't think you really need the assault gun platoon.

I would drop them to get another section on your Priest battery and a 5th 76 sherman.

Both is excessive. Armoured mortar platoons are also a good cheap artillery option.

I have found the HQ Assault gun to be a moderatly useful addition.

It can add a gun to the Priest battery(without diluting its bombardments) while also giving them a little more protection. Or I add it to a Sherman platoon to give them a 2+ firepower weapon for digging infantry out of foxholes.

Its 2+ firepower is also decent against Panzer IVs and Stugs.

General consensus is to drop the assault guns though? As much as I am opposed to buying more priests, I can see the widom in running a larger unit. The other thing I wasn't sure about was the air support. Will post an updated list when I get home

Wait and see. 105 Shermans with their combination of turrets and Breakthrough gun (if this happens). will be very desirable.

Defensive fire hits that kill without a save and the ability to smoke/pin/destroy gun teams as desired may make them very desirable in V3.

Yeah, but will that advantage be worth diluting your Priest battery?

In large games I can definitly see the value of an Assault gun platoon, especially against infantry, but I think artillery is more important. Of course you could go the reverse and drop the Priests for the 105 Shermans as they can also fire bombardments so you end up with a dual purpose unit.

Of course, they arn't as destructive as a full Priest battery.

Hold off on the 105 Shermans until breakthrough gun is confirmed in a V3 update for Turning Tide.

Breakthrough Guns will be the Melta Spam of the Flames of War World. Everyman and his dog is going to want them and it will turn into an Arms race to see who can pack the most BTG's into a 1750 list.

My Lehr Grille H (15cm) may yet become a staple unit (they are regimental Combat platoon to boot!).

I went back and checked out the Grille when I first found out about BTG. I don't rate them on paper. I prefer my Brummbars.

It was one of those silly purchases, you know an Impulse buy that I have painted and used very little.

I look forward to someone trying to breakthrough gun spam on me, since most stuff with breakthrough gun are either hideously expensive, or shoddily armored.

Anyone who says the only way to deal with heavy armor is to avoid it needs to look at history and how avoiding that armor never really worked for the Allies, and that's why the British had to make the Firefly, and why American tank destroyer doctrine never worked and they stopped production on the 75mm gun.
