Here is the first of hopefully many display trays i make, i made this for my friend who took dwarves to Templecon, in about 4 days.
The specs
The size is 18"18" Inside made of premuim pine and brass finished hardware, all done in a Jacobean stain with silicon rubber feet on the bottom to prevent scratching.
The display board is made from 1" insulation foam, pine bark and heavy concrete paints to keep wear to a minimum, the surface is textured with some kind of lightweight sand texture made from foam( i forget the brand). Bushes are Woodland scenics, with little berries added to them using pin heads.(not visible i think, they're yellow)
The dwarves are his, Lmk what you think!

This is very cool, and very classy. Practical and looks good. I love pine bark rocks. Probably the first terrain I made.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

Thank you for your kind words, Pine bark rocks are always cool looking. The entire board without models weighs maybe 4-5 pounds at the most. I have other designs that i will reveal later, keep an eye out.

How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?
-- Fifty-Four -- Eight to argue, one to get a continuance, one to object, one to demur, two to research precedents, one to dictate a letter, one to stipulate, five to turn in their time cards, one to depose, one to write interrogatories, two to settle, one to order a secretary to change the bulb, and twenty eight to bill for professional services.

Mondo cool! I'd use that as a travel board for smaller scale 40k, like Alternative Armies 15mm.

The texturing on the board looks really professional! At first glance I thought someone had cut down a GW Realm of Battle tile to fit in a drawer!

Thanks, its a tried and true mix i like to call muck. it looks like a thick brownie batter(as i used brown paint) and then dries down to what you see(except in brown)
