Subject: [Video} How to Create Greenstuff Robes and Tabards
Hi Everyone. I'd like to present my first full length tutorial video posted on YouTube. In this video I demonstrate my technique for creating robes and tabards with Green stuff. I hope it helps some of you in the community that may be having some difficulty in working with Green stuff. I admit its a bit long but it is my first video and I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks.

I've found that the "grey stuff" modelling putty is great for sculpting drapery, you can get it at coolminiornot and other places like that. I holds the shape better and isn't quite so annoyingly sticky. Also when you are sculpting it onto a figure it helps to a drop of super glue where it attaches so that it holds in place better while you sculpt it around the figure.

If you are referring to procreate sculpting putty, yes I agree that it's a very good product, even better than greenstuff in most respects. I enjoyed using it and might pick up some more soon.
You can also see in m video that I do in fact use a drop of superglue to tack on the piece to the figure as part of my process. I mention it a few times.

Hey heavybolter...I actually used your tutorial the other night! Thanks! I'd like to suggest a tweak though...well not so much a tweak but an extra step. To give the folds a bit of a raised, "billowing" effect I slid a toothpick under the GS and shaped around it slightly. Once I had the 3D fold I just slid the pick back out from underneath.

I have not had a problem with priming the work. The lubrication doesn't seem to bother it. I'm sure a gentle washing wouldn't hurt it either if your still unsure.
I'll be posting a cloak demo soon,it's basically the same principals applied to a larger piece while draping it.

Its good to see a tut. for this. Your camera seems like it was right in your way. at times its hard to see what you are doing. Other than that great job man. Keep it up.
yea still working on getting the camera just right, its literally right in front of me on a micro tripod ( a lifecam hd). I'll have to rig some kind of camera boom.

This was an excellent tutorial. Even though I wasn't using it exactly correct, I was listening to it in the background while making my first GS sculpt, and I have to say that I really liked the tips that I was hearing in the background. Thanks!
I posted up a test paint recently...the tabard was made using this tutorial. I've since gone out and purchased some clay shapers to improve my technique and will try them next time around.
I wonder if you could add some milliput into the mix to sharpen the edges?

That came out great looking. Milliput mix should work good to get sharper edges or any other epoxy mix to the greenstuff. I personally mixed alittle green stuff with some aves Fixit and loved the texture of the mix.you can also come back to it after its fully set and just add more putty and build up bigger folds as well. Thats where the milligreen mix might come in most handy.
