So I'm trying to finalize a decent 2500 list for my High Elves. Mostly the decision lies in buying the chariots or finding
something else to use those points on. Character builds are easy changes that don't cost any money. So if it's no the
the two chariots, what would you use the 280 points on?

As for the characters, the build is fairly simple. Unkillable Archmage, Spirit Leech casting Ld10 Prince. I could drop
the prince if I had to, but I want to try using him as is for at least a few games to see how he does.

Archmage, lv4, Silver Wand, Talisman of Saphery, Folariaths Robe, Lore of Life 350
Prince, GW, Armor of Caledor, Radiant Gem of Hoeth, Spirit Leech 232
Noble, BSB, Halberd(not enough points for a GW), Dragon Armor, Helm of Fortune, Guardian Phoenix 172
Mage, lv2, Dispel Scroll, High Magic 155

CORE:
10 Archers, Musician 115(High mage here)
25 Spearmen, Command, War Banner 270
24 Spearmen, Command 241(BSB HERE)

SPECIAL:
5 Dragon Princes, Musician 160
23 Phoenix Guard, Command, Banner of Sorcery 425 (lv4 and Prince here)
Lion Chariot 140
Lion Chariot 140

RARE:
2x Great Eagle 100

Army total 2500

Anyone? I would really like some advice on the special choices. Are two Lion Chariots worth taking? What role should the fill?

Each one of the units in your list are as is.

mage is set up for life

Prince is set up for his role that you have given him. Life eats up to many dice and you already have two wizards in your army that are going to really drain your power phase. I would armour this guy up if he is set for front row combat.

Bsb is built the best you can and I see this to be your area of weakness. If you lose the bsb, its going to be a blow to your army(life every other army as well). I am one for using my bsb as a back back back up fighter and he main role is staying alive until the end. That way I can keep his ability of keeping units in check.

lvl 2 mage is set up correctly

Core is set for what you like. I myself run more archers than spears, but my spear block has the prince in it.

Something you could do is pick up another 5 dragons princes. Then mount your prince so that he can swing in either group. That way you can effect deployment by placing both units away from each other and then at the end placing the prince on either side. just an options

I have the same set up for your rare. I just have found that two eagles are more than what you need in order to redirect on the first few turns.

The special section is the area that your really focused on.

Like I said before that I would opp to replace the banner with something else. That way you can really push your ability to kill in combat. Having a block of T7 PG is not what you really want. If anything you need this unit to punch harder and to be your unit of death. You might want to run your prince with your bsb for added punch in that unit.

As far as placing the mage in that unit. I find that with a forailith robe mage. That you never know where he is going to be needed until the end of deployment. The main reason is the enemies army and what he has in it. Awhile back I used one eagle to frezy the choas dwarf fire monters to run forward. Only to swing my mage over a unit and then charge it to lock it up.

Over all your army is solid, I would just find a stronger punch for your spears and let your PG bog stuff down. That way your spear/bsb/prince units can go ont he rampage in the backfield cleaning out weaker troops. I hit a unit one time and did something like 14 wounds with spears and prince on T3 guys. If your spears are placed correctly vs the enemy they can take out. That little extra punch plus the bsb will send it over the top forcing the enemy to take CR's on box cars...

Thank you for the advice Tarval. I'll tinker around with it a bit.
