Hey guys, just thought I'd put up my new Necron Warrior. He turned out pretty good IMO, considering it's only my third ever model painting, and I am far from artistically talented XD.

I realise he is still missing his Gauss rod thingo, but I ordered some green ones and they are still in the mail. Only thing I am thinking of changing is to glue the gravel to the base before priming, but we'll see. It was pretty simple, The Army Painter "Platemail Metal" primer, Vallejo Electric Blue on the blue details, and then 2 coats of Badab Black wash. Next time I will try to keep the wash out of the chest-insignia, because it is a bit hard to see, but the overall colour turned out exactly how I wanted. The base was Basecrafts Mixed Gravel, washed with Badab Black and drybrushed with Vallejo silver. Then simply added some Blue Crystal Rock from Basecrafts for effect. I never liked the GW silvery bases for Necrons, but it think it looks kind of like a thick layer of Necron remains (assuming you could actually keep them down XD), emphasising the whole mass destruction theme.

Any feedback is appreciated, regardless, I am very happy with the results, easy and effective.

I like it.... While the pic is a little dark you seem to have executed the silver all right!

Thanks mate. The pic is quite dark, but also keep in mind, so is the silver. I was looking at the Black/Blue models in the codex and figured I would go for a dark grey, and it's only a little darker in the image than real life.

Take the picture with a darker background. The camera is closing the aperture because it registers all the white as light. This is why your model looks dark.
As long as you're learning, why not try some lighting effects to make it look like the eyes and gun coils are glowing.

Thanks for the tip. I gave a few different backgrounds a try, and this was the most accurate I could get. The only thing that's visibly out is the edge of the base, but that isn't exactly too important for the purpose of this photo.

I'll give the eyes and coil glow a shot , I've still got plenty of painting to do

Just an update. I painted up 5 more this morning and put in the rods. Tried a different method on the base, just out of ease and it worked out fine.

The camera is a little grainy, and the centre scarab swarm was painted out of boredom and experimentation.
I'm really liking them so far =D

Fantastic bases and I like the rods in the guns.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

Nice William,

You really have good shading on the grey...makes it look very good! Also the blue is great..... I kind of like that better then the normal green. Very clean..... If I ever got Necrons, this is how I would want them to look!

Thanks! I got a bit sick of seeing silver and green Necrons myself, and I definitely didn't like the pastel coloured armies I was seeing around the net.

Are these NMM? If not, you've got the consistency on that silver JUST right.
I like these. My only piece of constructive criticism would be the eyes. A blob of BRIGHT blue to go withthe other bits of blue... or even RED. That'd make them REALLY pop... Kinda of Terminator style.

Also, QFT on those GOD AWFUL 'Crons in WD and other places. They're trying so hard to be Tombkings in space. Makes my eyes bleed.

Thanks, they are not NMM, just a silver primer and 2 black washes XD. I might have a bit of a mess around with the eyes later today, there's always going to be some room for improvement =)

Very nice I like how this is coming out, if I may make a suggestion you can squeeze out an extra scarab base from the warrior sprues if you do just 3 to a base (Scarabs do have 3 wounds after all) I do like the simplicity of it a lot. if you check my blog, in my sig, you can see how I like to use a good bit of color. Feel free to draw inspiration or ideas as well.

Thanks for the suggestion and input. I did check out your blog. I like what you are doing with the vehicles, and I was thinking of doing them in a blue myself

(Great minds think alike? =P)

Or perhaps great necron overlords share the same idiosyncracies once thought broken by the silent king o.0 (Conspiracy!!)

Thanks guys. I don't have a lot of time for painting and assembly at the moment due to exams and assignments, but I will surely make some significant advancement through the school holidays.
