Seriously, have you ever been torn apart by two options, each so seducing, that you'd knew you would certainly regret to have chosen one and not the other, no matter what (like Socrate (or was it Zenon ?) said about getting a wife or not) ?
So here's my big dilema : I have a bit of money. I have two options :

1-Buy Warmachines models to finsh my Protectorate of Menoth army (which is really good, no pretense here).

2-Start a 1000 pts Warriors of Chaos Nurgle army.

Y'see, I really like Warmachine so far, but never actually played a WHFB game before (since GW stuff is expensive) and maybe never will (since GW stuff is expensive and my friends prefer to drink beer). I do have a friend for warmachine (we bought the 2 player box together and we play 20 pts match), but he'll never buy more warmachine, and will never start a WHFB army (the idiot bought two sport car, lost his job, and we live in a country where winter last 10 months... god what a big idiot). To be honest, I just like to buy and build army list and army for the sake of it. But still, one day I'll maybe end up in a hobby shop (if I ever set foot in the cursed city of Montreal), and I don't want to have bought an army and then realise I don't like the game. Yeah. I know I should watch battle reports to get the idea of it, but most of the time Batrep are about W40k, and the other times the Batrep sucks (bad editiing, sound, etc.). So here I am torn by two burning desires :

1-Finish my awesome Exemplar and good Menoth army

OR

2-Build a Fiery and Chaotic army of Warriors of chaos.

There are many pro and cons fo each of my options, yet, the biggest is this one : I love warhammer, but I totally hate GW. What if, let say. in 8 years a new edition comes out, and the game become totally screwed (GW seems to be good at that) ? I'm totally mind-teared apart here (hey, there's a reason I like chaos). So what would you suggest me ?

The best way to get into warhammer without bending over to gw prices is mordheim.

Mordheim uses only 3 -12 modelsish so one box of troops is all you needs, and often. One box split with a buddy is enough! (so cheap) and uses an older (but very similar) rule set to fantasy. Games take about an hour, Fast play, chept to get into it's very easy to get groups started and a perfect step into for warhammer fantasy. The game allows for a lot of unique modeling and painting opportunity as well. I have always wondered why GW hasnt supported the game more to get people interested in warhammer.

It's a product of specialty games (branch controlled by gw) but is available as a free download. GW recently hid the link to the main rules (i smell a reprinting in the future), however you can actually find it by using google to search the gw website for the rule book, still a free download. All of the war bands and updates can still be found on the mordheimer website for free as well.

I feel the same way about PP that you do about GW. I really loved Warmachine, then they screwed it up with MK2 and their money grubbing. So, in my opinion, it's simply a choice of which company you want to get screwed by.
Personally I'd go with the WoC, since fantasy is actually quite entertaining in this edition and you have way more options for conversion and creativity with Warhammer than with WM. That's my 2 cents.
