They could feel the Warp rippling around them as they chanted, preparing sacred metals. Each one felt his gut wrench with each rolling wave of psychic power, but none could afford to react to the cold sweats that broke on each; too vital was this work. If it failed, they would all, one and each, be damned for eternity. They heard the bellows, the roars, the howls. Deep, layered bass, grating against their ears like a million knives, dragged point-wise across a thousand chalkboards. It was machine-like, a universe of voices screaming for slaughter, howling for blood to whet their throats. Their voices cried for carnage, echoing through the halls of the Craftworld that had, just a mere week before, been home to the voices of thousands upon thousands of kin. Nobody knew where the seed of Chaos had been planted, but they soon spread like hellfire, sweeping aside all in their path and driving like a burning spear towards the most precious of prizes.
That is where the ten stood in unison. That with held more worth than the lives of those aboard. That which, if it fell, would spell horrible, burning doom for far more than the pitiful mortal souls of Craftworld Lugganath.
The Infinity Circuit. Eons upon ages of Eldar souls, flowing through the wraithbone, giving it life as water through a river. And now the blood-stained, Warp-Spawned Great Enemy wished to taint it. This was it's core; the primary access point where new souls entered the matrix. It was the craftworld's very heart.
As the chant grew to a crescendo, one of their number split from the circle; their brave Exarch, who would give his life to complete the ritual. As he fell upon his blade, a wash of blazing heat filled the room, and tall the Avatar rose, blazing sword in hand, blood dripping from its fingers. Molten iron was its body, liquid fire was its blood. It roared, a great mighty sound as it rose to join the ranks of the Guardians and Warriors that guarded this final bastion, this ultimate sanctum.
Their god was with them. If they had any chance of survival, any at all, it would rest on this.
In the darkness beyond the entrance, blazing shapes were assembling. The Guardians readied their weapons. Two groups of Howling Banshees and one group of Fire Dragons, the only Aspect Warriors who managed to heed the call to defend the primary access point, prepared to demonstrate their arts. The Avatar's burning aura rippled in anticipation.
The daemons struck like lightning bolts. Bloodletters charged with frightening speed, immediately plunging into the ranks of Guardians and immediately sowing slaughter, daemonblades spilling Eldar blood like water across the floors. Bloodcrushers followed, as their foot-mounted kin kept the Howling Banshees pinned, and they slaughtered the Aspect Warriors in a single pass. The Fire Dragons unleashed a fiery tide with their weapons, but eventually, they too were overwhelmed.
Only the Avatar stood, locked in fierce battle with its daemonic foe.
"I have seen only weakness as I stalked these halls," the beast rumbled. "But you... You have fire in you! How long have you persisted?! For eons, you suffered the Young One's ministrations, only to come to pitiful shards of yourself rather than suffer final defeat. Yet here I have you, Piece-Of-Fire-Lost, and here you will fall! I will give you to the Bloody One, and he shall make this bone-ship into his new throne!"
With that, the Bloodthirster lashed his whip around the Avatar's ankle, yanking its balance out from under it. As one of the behemoths tumbled to the ground ,the other dragged it close ,and with a final bellow, severed its head with a single stroke of the massive, hellfire-sheathed axe.
There you have it, folks! Coming up soon, Space Marine Librarian Vs. Necron Cryptek.

As it should, I hate those things. Go bloodthirster.

Thanks to all of y'all for your support and appreciation. I'm glad to hear that an idea like this, that I basically whipped up half on a whim, is getting such a response.
