Some of these are approximate, some of these are spot on. Some of them are just comparable. If a color is missing, then there is nothing even remotely CLOSE to it. Some are foundations, some aren't. Everything's kind of mixed up. Here we go.

GW - P3

Bestial Brown - Bloodstone
Skull White - Morrow White
Chaos Black - Thamar Black
Iyanden Darksun - Sulfuric Yellow
Scorpion Green - Necrotite Green
Snot Green - Iosan Green
Goblin Green - Wurm Green
Dark Angels Green - Gnarls Green
Knarloc Green - Ordic Olive
Scorched Brown - Umbral Umber
Vomit Brown - Rucksack Tan
Calthan Brown - Bloodtracker Brown
Desert Yellow - Thornwood Green
Ice Blue - Arcane Blue
Hawk Turqoise - Meridius Blue
Regal Blue - Cygnar Blue Base
Dark Reaper - Coal Black
Fenris Grey - Trollblood Base
Necron Abyss - Exile Blue
Space Wolves Grey - Frostbite
Enchanted Blue - Cygnar Blue Highlight
Liche Purple - Beaten Purple
Warlock Purple - Murderous Magenta
Emperor's Children / Tentacle Pink - Carnal Pink
Shining Gold - Solid Gold
Chainmail - Quicksilver
Astronomican Grey - Cryx Bane Highlight
Boltgun Metal - cold Steel
Mithril Silver - Radiant Platinum
Screaming Bell - Molten Bronze
Dwarf Bronze - Rhulic Gold
Runelord Brass - Blighted Gold
Sycorax Bronze - Brass Balls
Scab Red - Sanguine Highlight
Evil Sunz Scarlet - Khador Red Base (closer than Blood Red)
Red Gore - Skorne Red (mix a dot of murderous magenta)
Blazing Orange - Khador Red Highlight
Catachan Green - Battledress Green
Camo Green - Traitor Green
Rotting Flesh - Thrall Flesh
Bubonic Brown - Moldy Ochre
Tallarn Flesh - Khardic Flesh
Dwarf flesh - Midlund Flesh
Elf Flesh - Menoth White Highlight
Bleached Bone - Menoth White Base
Ushabti Bone - 'Jack Bone (don't listen to the propaganda, bleached bone is way lighter than ushabti bone)
Adeptus Battlegrey - Ironhull Grey
Fortress Grey - Trollblood Highlight
Codex Grey - Bastion Grey

What would be the color pot equivalence to Shadow Grey?

Sorry, there's nothing even remotely close =( The closest color straight out of the pot would be Underbelly Blue, which is no where near; however, you could probably mix it with a blue color to achieve Shadow Grey. Probably Underbelly Blue and (maybe) Cryx Bane Highlight or Ironhull Grey (or possibly Underbelly Blue + Ironhull Grey + Trollbloodhighlight if that comes out too dark).

I would like to reinforce that this is not an equivalency chart, but a comparison chart. Meaning some of these colors are spot on; some of them are what I would substitute in the same situation (noticeably darker, lighter, or different tone, but in the same family). I sat for hours holding up GW pots to rows of P3 pots to see which one was the closest. Hope it helps. I use paint from VGC, VMC, RMS, GW, & P3, but I try to champion P3 paints for some reason. I love using their paints on GW minis XD

Thanks for taking the time to work this up. The dakka paint chart really doesn't have much P3 information on it, but that's also probably because they are further away. After fussing with color equivalencies between VGC and Citadel I can tell you that even those are not 100% matches. It's best to get a general idea of what you want and consider all of the different paint brands apples and oranges.

May the WAAC and pretzels be with you.

Omg, thank you! I was in the store the other day and was like "What the **** is all this?!" -with the new paints.. there's 6 different stages now? X_x *cries*
Will you keep updating this? I don't think my store will get back to the old paints, they barely had last bottle of devlan mud and no snakebite leather :(

So there's no snakebite leather in these new paints? Need something to drybrush the rocks I guess on the base :s

The old paints will be a match with reaper and vallejo. The newer paints match closer to the P3 paints.

@Thorn678
Thx for the information and thoughts. The reason why I asked was because that color is the primary for two of my armies.

But it's K for now, I went to my local hobby shop and bought 5 tubs of Shadow Grey, hopefully that will last a while . im painting very conservatively with it now lol

UPDATE:

Ordic Olive = Castellan Green
Ordic Olive:Thrall Flesh 1:1 = Straken Green
Ordic Olive:Thrall Flesh 3:1 = Nurgling Flesh

^^ Infallible. I literally mixed up swatches and held them up to last month's white dwarf that has the entire line in swatch form until the mix was right.

More mixtures:

Stegadon Scale Green = Meridius Blue:Thamar Black 1:1
Sotek Green = Meridius Blue:Cygnar Blue Base 1:1
Temple Guard blue = Meridius Blue:Arcane Blue 1:1
Arcane Blue = Skink Blue (trust me...)

Screamer Pink = Sanguine Base:Sanguine Highlight 1:1
Pink Horror = Sanguine Highlight:Menoth White Highlight 2:1
Emperor's Children = Sanguine Highlight:Menoth White Highlight 1:1 (this is a little off... going to keep experimenting... MIGHT be closer with Sanguine H/L:Carnal Pink 1:1...will keep you posted)

Here's a good one for you.

2:1 Cygnar Yellow:Murderous Magenta = Mephiston Red.

Yup.

I'm painting a AoBR flamer using the above formula as we speak. I'll post a side by side comparison when done.

New discovery - 3 parts Skorne Red to 1 part Beaten Purple makes a nice Scab Red-ish tone.

i have been doing GW schemes with P3 paints for 6 years now, and really enjoy the challenge...
the P3 colors have some really fun undertones in the colors, which really come out when you thin it...
watching the colors go on the mini is just more "interesting" when you can really notice the blues and greens in the greys, the reds and yellows in the browns, and so on...

aside from loving the metals from the Vallejo Air line, i can't recommend P3 highly enough...
don't forget the washes and inks, as well, both of which i use on every mini in some way, especially the two washes...

keep spreading the word!!!

cheers

JAH!

I assume you are the same Jah that did that awesome Blood Angels Sternguard Veteran blog?

Dude, you have no idea how much you inspire me. NO IDEA.

Of course, I have a problem with my Khador Red Base being orange and not red (I had the same problem with Skorne Red - I bought both pots from the same store that were so old they have permanent dust caked on them. I got a new pot of Skorne Red and low and behold, it's a completely different color).

yeah, dude, i painted the Blood Angels Sternguard...
the special edition mini...
that guy was fun...

i have a few more ideas for mixes and tones i will be trying on some other Blood Angels, sometime down the line..
also, a few more varieties of the Salamanders' green...

i'm just finishing up Broadsides Bart from Warmachine right now...
i've been experimenting on this guy by adding either Underbelly Blue or Thrall Flesh to all my colors for the highlights, and shading everything with a wash of 50-50 Battlefield Brown and Coal Black...
it's made for an interesting mini...
i'll have some pics up next week...

once i get my laptop back up and running i'll get back to the paint write-ups...
i still have to do the one for Tycho:(...

glad i could inspire your painting...
lord knows, there are plenty of painters better than me whos' ideas i knick everyday...

cheers

I would like to restate how beautiful skorne red is mixed with murderous magenta 2:1 (skorne to magenta). It's like red gore or mephiston red with a slight hint of blue. I'm going to be painting up my Crimson Slaughter from the DV box set with this, so pics coming soon.

I don't like the stock color of Crimson Slaughter. The stock color is more of a vermillion - that is, a far-east looking orangey-red. Crimson is, by definition, red with a hint of blue and barely a hint of green (and I mean BARELY).
