What do you use for rivets and stuff? Ive resorted to taking the spear's staff thing and using those as rivets. Does anyone have a good way to make lots of rivets easily?

Depends on what type of rivets you want. The bulky, Orkish ones can be done by slicing plastic rods (you can find several sizes and diameters at the same place you might buy Plasticard - or Styrene for you guys over the Pond). That's how the guy who designed this model did his. Smaller ones, you can get from this place: http://www.grandtline.com/model_railroad/augmentables_pages.htmI personally only ever tried one of those set. It's the one labelled 153 at the bottom of the page. They're small and a b!t©h to handle but they give some pretty good results if you're patient. They're pretty much the same size as any other rivets you can see on Chaos Marine Power Armours.

I use a bunch of different techniques. For bigger ones, and bolt heads, I roll out green stuff into long thin rods, wait for it to harden, then cut it up. leave it round for rivets, cut little edges for bolts. For even smaller rivets, I use needles of various diameter (I'm a nurse, I have lots kicking around) and pull the barrel out of the holder, reversse it, and use it like a tiny cookie cutter. press out thin GS on my desk, punch out little rivets, place it onthe model, and then touch them up with the needle barrel just to shore up the shape. Tedious at first, but does get faster.

I use the grandt line ones as well. Not so hard to handle really. Just drill a hole, cut the whole rivet off the sprue including the stem, insert stem into hole and glue.

I punch out disks of plasticard with a leather punch. Smallest size of one of these types of things: http://www.emocs.com/leatherpunches/leatherpunchosborne.jpg I got mine at a Michael's craft store. Grandtline stuff is fantastic tho. I also use plastic rod on occasion and straight pins heads.

You could also try to get the roundheaded look from the styrene rod slices by either carefully holding the rod up to a flame before you slice them off or by adding a small drop of PVA glue on top off the slices.

Another way is tiny blobs of PVA glue applied using a pin for accuracy. There's a tutorial in the latest UK WD about using PVA to make rivets and things like the 'knobbly' Marine shoulder pads.

depending on how big you want them go to the fabric store, just buy a bunch of sewing pins (that you hold the fabric in place with) they have a round head, and ta-da instant rivets for cheap, and much less work

It is what I used to put Rivets on my Great Gargant.
