Howdy

Am new around here so thought i'd share my newly started fairly unique Grey Knights. I am generally a Tyranid player but am getting a bit bored of painting them.

I am personally getting tired of seeing the same old colour scheme for Grey Knights (my mate collects them and follows the normal scheme religiously).
There are some very nice unique colour scheme out there for grey knights, just not enough in my opinion.

Not to say the normal colour scheme doesn't look good... just
I finally finished my first Copper Knight yesturday and am pretty proud of it.
I'm not a great painter by any means so like to keep things simple and effective.

The halberd is definetly pretty plain but hey, i think its cool

Note: The primer is Vallejo model air white primer & the copper is Vallejo model air copper both of which were airbrushed on for a very nice flat (brushstroke free) finnish. The rest is done by hand with GW paints.

If you can't see the attachment to this (i dont really know how to apply it) ill upload the pictures to my gallery for you to have a look.

Comments as usual are welcome!

While it is unique and neat, it really needs a wash to add some depth to it.

Thanks for the constructive comments, any idea what washes might go well with the Copper colour?

Thanks

I would say Devlan Mud. Paint up a few bitz in the copper color and use different washes and see which one looks the best to you.

Devlan Mud or Black wash would make it look better.
Also, you need to add more color, you don't need to make EVERYTHING copper (you even made the purity seals, copper). You can make the exhaust on the back boltgun and wash it black, the gun can be boltgun too, as well as the cables on the arm, the skull on his chest and helmet can be gold, the Inquisition symbol on his chest and the book on the shoulder pad could use some silver too.
You need a brighter red, the one you're using now gets lost in the copper. You can barely see his eyes or the red scrolls on his armor.
What color are the highlights and the writing? Silver or white? Either way, I think its's too extreme. I think Burnished Gold on the letters would look good. You can mix the copper with some gold or even silver to do highlights on the armor. The helmet is a perfect example of this. It doesn't look like highlights, it looks like you painted a white/silver stripe running down the middle of his face plate.
Finally the base. It also blends in too much with the copper color. I would go with an urban gravel. Paint it dark grey, then drybrush with some light grey and a little white. I think the darker grey base will make your model stand out more.

Well the way you painted it is ok.. If I was to go with a all copper theme, then I would weather it as weathered copper.. Then go back and add highlights and redo areas like the GK was wiping the armor down and trying to clean it.. Just my two cents

Personally, I don't like the white, the copper is nice, but theres no variation, if needs some dark patchs to let the copper stand down, some tin bitz for shadows and maybe even 1:1 Bronze and gold for your highlights could benifit you, good luck!
