Posted this over on another forum, thought I'd share here to.

While the ST hasnt been widely accepted as a good model or even a passable model with the ridiculously oversized assault cannon and the stumpy tail, I saw potential. As soon as I saw this model on rumour threads I thought it looked like the Orca from the old command and conquer PC game. Got my hands on the tail sections and fins from a IG valk I'll never build and another ST tail fin and work commenced.

Swapped out the over compensating assualt cannons for a landspeeder sponson/assualt cannons and (clearly) extended the tail. Was stuck what to do with the end of the tail, so decided to add a vectoring thruster. Used a SM tank radar rather than those wiers ariels thingys and a fin on top to balance out the land fin on the bottom. The result...The Orca pattern StormTalon.

Working on a mini diorama for the base, not yet finished yet. Waiting on some bits off mail order to arrive.

C&C please.

Its an Improvement

I'd start to consider to get one...still can't stop looking for the "missing" rotor...

And spotting those Templar icons is a bonus.

I like it! I have a lot of respect for kitbashers. Especially since the Stormtalon is such an ugly model. Yours, however, is top-notch!

Thanks very much folks, its been a joy making tis one. Can't wait till number two(probably next month).

The idea behind the base was to have it showing a few moments after a missile strike/gun run. As you can see from the dead ones, and to capture having taking them by surprise by the two alive ones reacting to what just happened plus the StormTalon tearing over head. Lots of debris, limbs, blast area etc. The follow on idea for the planned 2nd Talon, will be a continuation of the battle below going into DE fighting Orks(the two armies I mainly play against). Of course the mighty spacemarines coming in to take 'em both out.

So the base is done now. The only good Eldar, is a dead one!

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

I like the Stormtalon as it is, but your conversion is awesome.

One thing it could do with is longer wings.

Extending the tail really perfected this model. I wonder why GW didnt think of it. I really like what you did. The base is really cool too. That'll teach those stupid Dark Eldar a thing or two.

That's a pretty phenomenal base sir.

I like what you've done with the model, though I would have suggested some kind of alternate mounting/placement of the missile pods. They still look a bit too bulky and "tacked on".
