This is my test model for my renegade imperial guard army. He is meant to be painted in a Nurgle'esk theme but i'm just not quite happy with him. How would you guys improve him? I need to learn how to improve my painting and i hope you guys can help me.

Try and make the clothing darker, using washes or some shadowing

You might want to rough up that armor a bit as well. When i did my squad of renegades i put slashes into them and damages from bullets, they make great ways to add shadowing and places to add rust and grime to the armor, especially if your guys are going Nurgle, you might consider some mutations or rotting limbs.

For nurgle?
Wash a dar purple, then a dark red, and then a dark green. Then add some cuts and battle damage all over him. TADA! done.
