Just a wonder about picking the brains of the community at large. I have an upcoming 1850 point game with my blood angels vs a necron list, mostly warriors small unit of immortals, doomsday ark, c'tan shard, destroyers, 3 wraiths plus Zandrehk and Obyron (spelling?!). My question is that since the changes to 6th im not sure where to start with a list. Any tanks/dreds/etc are gonna get hosed with gauss fire and swiftly die, and i would useually rely on stormravens as a delivery method which obviously wont work now. I'm also s**t scared about the doomsday ark (pieplate that negates FNP + armour saves AGH!!). How should i best combat this? I realy want that ark dead in the first turn somehow =/
Thanks all

Why wont stormravens work?
Here's an 1850 list I'm probably going to be running -
HQ - Dante - 225 pts
Elite - 5 man terminator assault squad (4x hammer 1x claw) - 220 pts
Elite - 5 man terminator assault squad (4x hammer 1x claw) - 220 pts
Elite - Jump Priest w/ power axe and melta bombs- 95 pts
Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard (fist, inferno pistol) - 220pts
Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard (fist, inferno pistol) - 220pts
Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard (fist, banner, inferno pistol) - 250 pts
Heavy - Stormraven(TL multimelta, TL ass cannon) (200 pts)
Heavy - Stormraven(TL multimelta, TL ass cannon) (200 pts)
I know... it seems light on troops. But, the sanguinary guard + priest would start on the table, move up through cover until the ravens come in. Fly on, bust the doomsday ark with the raven, and then let the terminators lose in the necrons. The necron weakness is and always will be hand to hand. Get terminators / sanguinary guard in there to mix it up, and you win!

I like your list, Horst, and I may try a 2000-pt variant on it at some point!

Post some updates on how that list performs! I'm super curious on the Sanguinary Guard.

I think I may also post a link to that list for reference on the BA thread, just so that I can find it on this one or that one.
But from my experience using Sang Guard in 6th, it's really cool as if you play it smart, there isn't as much as there used to be that could bring them down, especially in Close Combat. They destroyed a unit of banshees which was amusing.

Being a Necron player I can tell you that we really don't like being assaulted. Ever. Based on what you're telling us he's bringing I don't think you'll have too much of a problem. His shard will probably be of the writhing worldscape variety although I think they work best with tremorteks. I'm surprised he's not taking any crypteks - I usually load up on at least a few. Even so if you're plan is to walk up to him and smash in his face you may want to rethink that as the whole board will be difficult terrain thanks to writhing worldscape. I'd load everyone into storm ravens and plan on a turn one or two alpha strike.
You're vehicles have a right to be afraid but as long as you can get to where you need to be who cares? As soon as you're within assault range it's over for him anyway if he's running msu style units.

Watch out for warscythed armed necron lords.
2+ armor and AP1 swinging at Init2 is dangerous.
Outside of monsters, it's the only thing that ignores your 2+ armor that isn't striking last.
Gauss fire doesn't kill all that effectively at range.
Every 27 shots kills a 3 HP vehicle. With how cheap razorbacks are, I think razor spam is still an option vs necron. Rememeber that glances don't reduce firepower.
I think a razor standoff, at 19-24" could make for a good shoot out. Especially if the minimum sized assault squads run at him and over-saturate his targeting choices.
Edit: Something like-
Librarian
6x 5 man Assault squads, meltagun and power weapon (hey, you could even get away with using the S6 AP4 power mace)
6x Razorbacks, lascannon and twin-plasmaguns
Land Speeder with heavy flamer and multi-melta
3 Storm Ravens

That's why I take 5 man warrior squads with two stormteks. Their staves are 4 S5 12" haywire shots. I regularly kill landraiders and entire squadrons of vehicles with that. I like to stick them in a night scythe so they can dump out right in front of a vehicle on turn 2 - that's 8 haywire shots and 10 gauss shots.

I'd like to see a 5man squad charge a necron unit with an overlord with MSS... no chance the necron player is ever going to lose that assault

I've been trying to figure out what the disadvantage to this is, or how to stop it. It seems a very, very inexpensive way to nearly guarantee a kill on any ground vehicle. The options seem to be 'only run skimmers/fliers' or 'don't run vehicles'. Even then, this is still a cheap scoring squad.

The Stormteks have always seemed useless to me.
Oh, I play Tyranids by the way!
So I'd say that Trygons are a striking disadvantage to those! However, this is a thread for BA, so I'll play fair. A 5 man assault squad can charge and kill that no problem, and then play whack a mole until the crypteks stay down. Sang. Guard do sound great againt Crons though, as they usually lack low Ap. shooting. Yes, that Doomsday Ark spoils the plan, so I'd maybe put a drop pod with Sternguard next to it on turn 1. If not that, try to hold out unitil turn two, when Stormravens should be arriving.

Well sure, killing them once on the board isn't an issue. It's stopping them from blowing up high value targets (land raiders) so reliably for so cheap.
