I guess its about time i create on of these to showcase my quest to have a completed army. My army is primarily IG ( Herisian Jungle Guard or locally known as "Herisian Fringers"). With allies being in again I've decided to add a blood angels detachment to my army. I chose the blood angels because ive always loved the models and fluff surrounding them. Specifically, i chose the Blood Drinkers chapter.

Fluff:
My Blood Angels army is going to be of the Blood drinkers successor chapter that is currently operating on the eastern fringes in the Jericho reach(setting for the deathwatch rpg) alongside the Achilus Crusade forces commanded by Lord Militant Tetrarchus. The Blood Drinkers contingent hurried to the aide of the Deathworld Herisor shortly after arriving through the warp gate. They shot straight to the furthest world in the Orpheus Salient that was not already devoured. There on the death world of Herisor they found a brutal struggle raging between tyranid swarms and regiments of the Herisian Jungle Guard. After making contact with the embattled regiments they soon learned the planet was under marshal command of a man named Roane Griggs and his faithful "Roanes Raiders". Once again the Blood Drinkers chapter brings the fight to the Tyranids, unable to let one more world fall to the xeno monstrosities.

Thats just a tid bit, il write up more as i get to it.


Currently i'm working on a "homebrew" vulture gunship, a BA librarian,and some more troopers...

Heres a quick update on the Blood Drinker librarian. This was my first finecast model I've ever worked with as well as the first marine I've ever painted. Strange i know!
Heres some things i noticed while assembling/ painting this model thus far.
-Flash brush is a must. unfortunetly i didnt have one so i had to meticulously remove each sliver with my hobby knife....

Witch brings me to my next point...

That oh-so sacred moment when you finally swap out your blade....magnifiquement forte!
Back on topic....
Finecast takes paint so well! i was a little worried when i began to prime this 22 dollar fig but was pleased to see that even my old can of GW white went on smooth.
I did notice a few imperfections but none were visible nor big enough to warrant repair or return. Honestly, the amount of detail on this model is amazing, IMHO its worth the extra hassle to check and/or repair the model.
Its so nice having a bulky model like the libby in termy armor and have it be almost weightless in my hand. I used to my models feeling like paper weights... Not sure why... just one of those weird things that bothered me.
Overall im very pleased with the model and look forward to my next finecast purchase...(Commissars whenever GW starts moulding them..)

THis looks good, I'll have to keep an eye on this.

What lists do you have planned for your Guard and BA?

Not too sure yet, I was thinking your typical Manticore/vendetta ig list with some mech plasma vets. On the BA side i was looking at the librarian with a squad of death company to start. Im going to playtest through a few games and see how it feels. Either way i love the BA models so il still buy a small force of them.

Over the past two weeks i made some modeling progress on my Vulture. A lot of sanding, some failed ideas, and some GS work later i managed to build a Herisian pattern vulture gunship. I cant stand the look of that giant turbine on the FW model so mine doesnt have it. It does however have only one tail. Im still deciding on whether or not to build my own punisher cannons or buy the FW ones....

As you'll notice my manticore in the background gets miraculously painted! I also cleaned away all that rubbish clogging my hobby area and swapped the antique desk out for less valuable one.

Some more progress on my BA librarian, still have some base coasting/ dry brushing to do as well as tons of highlights.

I apologize for the poorly light pictures, im going to try to fit in building a light box some time in the next week, from what i've read its very easy to do.


Also i want your advice Dakka, i have three autocannons and tons of random IG bits, ive also been really hankering to build some jungle deathworld terrain for my army. Any ideas, concepts, inspiration? Help me out here....

Nice, the librarian is probably my favorite model in the SM army. I´m definitely getting one for my army of not yet assigned chapter. I want to go for a custom chapter based on the Blood Angels. At least I´m going to take a look at their codex and see how it goes

Okay,
Got some things finished over the past week or so.
First and foremost my blood drinker librarian is finished and i think im content with how he came out.... we'll see though.
I got a chimera painted up and ready for the tabletop. The guys laspistol keeps breaking off so that will be a nightmare to transport. Im going to wash the nulin oil a bit lighter on the next one, this one came out darker than i had anticipated.
I challenged myself to make a model with heavy GS conversions. My end result was Gourum, hand of the Magistrar. Officially he is one of hands of the Magistrar and representative of the Herisian Dominion. Unofficially he performs the Magistrars dirty work throughout the Dominion and engages in political subterfuge. Im planning on making a uniquely modeled squad of snipers and use them as sniper vets or "ratlings'.

My desk is overflowing with unfinished models so expect more to come soon!

Thanks man! It was one of those models you dont plan on making and then one night you just start messing around with bits and next thing you know you have a sweet fig.

Got some Death company assembled and primed along with a handful of guardsmen.... I really need some tyranid bits. Contact me if anyone out in the interwebs would trade some eldar or IG bits for some nid bits...
