After reading the rules for Defensive Grenades on page 62, they actually sound like they could be very useful as 'Offensive' grenades on the charge against Overwatch fire:

"A unit equipped with defensive grenades has the Stealth special rule against all shooting attacks targeting them, so long as: 1) They are within 8" of the unit firing at them. 2) They have not gone to ground."

I was thinking of giving my Wyches phantasm grenade launchers to gain this Stealth rule against Overwatch fire. That would mean if they start their charge in area terrain, they would receive a 4+ cover save to Overwatch fire. Does this seem legit?

This is absolutely correct, as long as you're charging through terrain, which you won't care about due to the PGL or the Plasma Grenades you have You also need to remember the 8" limit on defensive grenades, so 12" charges will be too far to get the bonus. Not patronising you, just surprising how often rules can change in your head

What special rules do Wyches have in relation to charging through difficult terrain? I ask because they will probably still strike at Init 1, which is probably worse than most overwatch you would face.

They have plasma grenades that allow them to strike in initiative order.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Good plan then!
