September sees some love for bug players out there. Always something we have been asked to do, the Shrike Conversion kit allows the modeler to add wings, taloned legs and a new head to their Games Workshop Tyranid Warrior Models.

This kit is priced at $9.00 USD here and will modify one model as shown.

Not bad. Th wing vanes look a bit on the chunky side, but I like the legs... appropriately rendy.

Any chance of just the wings? They'd go better on a Ravener body.

Hmm. Not sure if I like these. The wings are fine but the claws seem blobby and not sure why they changed the head. Also, this doesn't seem to be any better deal than the forgeworld wings. I may be doing the math wrong, tbh.

Yeah, the wing vanes look as wide as arms and legs. I don't think that is typically how wings work.

By vanes do you mean veins? As those aren't veins, they represent modified finger bones a la bats or pterodactyls. They may be a tad chunky, but if you're interpreting them as blood vessels you're perception of the proportions is gonna be off.

No, not blood vessels. I was taking vanes to refer to the finger bones, but I can't find that definition. So, "fingers" then... they are way huge.

I *think* they're dactyl or dactylid bones. Agreed they're a tad oversized but I honestly don't think it looks too bad. Then again I'm not a Nid player so not massively familiar with the standard aesthetics.

not a fan of the head at all, and the open talon looks a bit off to me, but the kit's ok. Not 12-bucks-a-model OK though

(and yes, they're still called fingers in wings)

Any chance of just the legs?

Changing the head makes no sense to me, and the wings are far, far inferior to the Forgeworld wings. But those legs are what I was thinking of doing for my Shrikes.

If I could buy just the legs, I would.

Any chance for shots from other angles? Otherwise i dont really see much creativity in these as they seem like just a straight mimic.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I have 12 pairs of those FW warrior wings - IMO, these look substantially different. less of a 'tattered' look - if I hadn't had more than enough of these models (for an army I don't care for using with it's current codex anyway) I'd not mind getting some of those, too.
the way they attach to the torso just looks different, too.

I'd like a bunch of those legs separately as well - breaking a few legs (off) of my shrikes to replace them with these sounds good - just not at $12.00 per mini if I only need the legs

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I would additionally be interested in e legs for the same reasons as Bolo. The head is nice, but unneeded, for me anyways. Might be interested in one for a prime, maybe, but still don't need the wings. The wings are to big for my taste, even if they are more likely the size needed to fly. And as warriors are already crazy expensive, no way I can drop that much. $83 for three dudes? That's some crazy talk.

Ok I can dig the wing a lot more now as the angles give a better view of how they pan out. Any chance of just selling the wings in the future as I like them but $12 per set (since I would have to get the kit) would end up being a little steep.

To me the wings just don't cut it, and the head isn't very good either, I'd rather just use the plastic head that comes with the kit which would mean at this point buying it only for the legs (which are the only thing going for this kit when compared to the FW one) and at that price no reason to not go with FW which is cheaper (!?!?!). All in all total miss here.

I think the forge world ones are abysmally bad. These ones are a bit chunky, but the forge world kit is basically rock bottom quality.

I used these: http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=imogens-wings~hfx008&category=accessories~converting

Metal, so a swine to fit and heavy, but less than £4 for a pair of wings. Size works really well and I used basic rending claws for the feet.

...out of pure, morbid curiosity, why are you considering the forge world wings to be such low quality? They fit the aesthetic for the tyranids perfectly, even if they are a bit ragged, while the chapterhouse wings lack the detail and include bits many (including myself) find inferior to the standard plastic, if not simply superfluousness.

I love the legs and the wings are ok. Need a better picture of the head before I decide on it. The thing I don't like is the price. $12 is a lot for only one set.

Changed the price to $9.00 a set, thats approx $1 more then the FW sets with more components. Hopefully more customers can see the value in that.

Doesn't help all the people who just want wings though. :( Cheaper is better, however!

I was wondering why Tabletop Gaming News reports the price at $12.00

Hater will hate, I really like this kit. Not a fan of the head, though. Never liked the tattered-wing look of Tyranids anyways; these bat-wings look cleaner.

You say "a bit ragged", other see "in tatters". you say "lacking in detail", others see smooth wings with sufficient detail to paint up nicely - and at least they're not ragged and as oversuffused with, to some, unwanted detail as the FW wings.
I like mine, I like both. it's just that it's more a matter of taste than of objective quality this time...

Mid-September sees the release of a sinister model, the Dark Eld Torturess

This kit is priced at $13.00 USD here and will modify one model as shown. Miniature sculpted by Jae Lee and Tomas Fiertek

Once a prisoner is taken by the Dark Elf forces, their destination is the dungeons of the dark lords and the hands of their master torturers. Skilled in all forms of pain, esoteric and physical, these "artist" are able to keep the vicitms alive so each possible moment of pain can be endured and captured for their masters.

Masters of dark surgeries, it is common for them to experiment on themselves. This path to "perfection" means that on the battlefield they are armed with all sort of pain-dealing weaponry as well as grotesque limbs.

Model is a two-part unpainted metal miniature.

Why is half the pics that Chapterhouse puts up work blocked. I can all or none, but half? I can only see the winged warrior pic from 9/7. I'm gonna have to check this stuff out from home. Grrrr.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!
