We have been having some questions about how to assault the gun on the Aegis defense line. I'd like an outside perspective or a clear explanation if anyone has one.

How do you treat the Gun Emplacement when you assault.

Does it get to make overwatch attacks and if so at what BS?

Are you able to charge the gun only?

When you charge the gun and contact both the gun and the unit(s) is this a multi charge?

Basically the issues come from the gun basically being almost a neutral unit.

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

You should really check the rules before claiming to know them.

p. 105 very specifically states that you *can* attack the gun emplacement in CC, and it even has its own T W and Sv.

That said, if there is a unit 'nearby' and you assault both; that is clearly a multi assault. If that unit is in base contact with the gun, I think a case can be made that it be handled differently. (but not exactly a RAW case...)

The only claim I made was that the gun was a piece of battlefield debris. That claim is true, and everything that followed from that claim was logical, so you can lose the attitude.

I did, however, mistake gun emplacement rules with emplaced weapons. My apologizes.

Though why kill the gun while you can take it instead.

Because you are Tyranids???? Maybe your opponent has no fliers, or you know you won't be able to hold it do to it's proximity to opposing units?

All the worlds a joke and the people merely punchlines

The objective is not necessarily to kill it but that it might be forced to be involved in the assault when you charge and we just aren't sure how that works.

Auto hits on a gun emplacement. But a multi-assault will result in the loss of the extra attacks.
