Subject: 750pt CSM + Daemons allies - Need guidance/help

Hey everyone, im new here on DakkaDakka and to Warhammer 40K in general. I've read tons of books but don't know much about the game itself besides the fundamentals.
I've been tempted to make a CSM army with Daemon allies. My limit right now is 750 but will expand later on. Is it worth taking allies at these low points? Due note that I am not playing to be ultra competitive, mostly just to have fun with friends.
Also I would greatly appreciate advice/suggestions on army list. Right now I have no idea what would be a fun/good army at these points.
Edit: I have the new CSM codex, but I feel im in way over my head with it.
/Thanks

At low points, it's usually better to stick to a single army, for the following reason: When you make a list with allies, you still have to fulfill all the force organization minimum requirements. This means that your primary detachment (your main force) must have at least 1 HQ unit, and 2 units of Troops. Your Allied detachment must have at least 1 HQ, and 1 unit of Troops. This makes your minimum list with allies require 2 HQ units, and 3 Units of Troops altogether. Since a lot of your cost-effective units come from other force-organization slots, this is a lot of points to be dumping into required units to get to those slots. At higher points games, this isn't as big a deal, but when you are dealing with low-point games it is really hard to fit all those required units into the list in the first place, much less finding room for the units you want to take. I would stick with your CSM codex. On Ebay, it is possible to find the chaos half of the Dark Vengeance starting set for around the same price as the codex, and that includes all the forces you need to make a legal 750 point force exclusively from chaos space marines. If you can't find somebody on Ebay who ships internationally, you could just buy a Dark Vengeance set and sell off the Dark Angels that it includes (or convert them to chaos for even more options!). That set costs roughly twice that of the codex, but it has the mini-rulebook and lots of starting guides that will get you into the game. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't bother with allies at that point level. The new CSM has a ton of options - but I do not think you can go wrong with...
Sorcerer
20 CSM w/ 4x Plasma guns
From there you can start customizing based on marks (and other wargear) that you do not need to model too much on and those 20 CSM's will just about never be useless.
If you want to bring in allies I would do a Tzeetch Herald on a disc w/ some horrors or plaguebearers as troops and 6x Flamers to go with the herald. It gives you some extra punch and lets you expand into a Daemon Prince or Screamers.

Thanks for the advice FoxPhoenix135. I will lay off with the Daemons for now then, I want a fun army but also an efficient one so as you said that is probably best to leave for now. I already have a friend who is willing to sell me the chaos part of the Dark Vengence box and I will be buying the lord and the marines. Thanks

Awesome thanks Should the 20 CSM devide into 2 groups to be most effective? And should I add a champion to both? Is it mandatory to get a champion in CSM groups? (sorry for the noob questions).
I'll play around with the army list and post an update later on, again thanks for the quick replies.
