Started Warhammer 40k about two years ago and figured I'd start posting about various projects. Mostly I'll be my ongoing tyranids but I have a 1500 chaos warband I'm working on. It'll also most likely be more modeling then painting as I'm better at building.


first up are two trygons I'm working on, both forgeworld models i found online


also a carnifex, most likely end up being a dakkafex but i'm not sure yet

doom of malantai, converted from a metal zoanthrope. Used a few trygon bits as well genestealer and a few curved spikes


finally the swarmlord I'm working on finishing, all painting details and what I missed in the first go around

The conversions look good, but I've got to say, the swords on the Swarmlord look pretty out of place. The giant, mechanical swords with the Inquisitorial symbol on them don't fit at all.

the swords do look out of place but it was a fun conversion and I like it better then the regular swarmlord swords

I also base coated and did up the armored bits on my hive guard, just need some detail work and skin

An update
first off my Parasite of Mortex conversion. Its body is a bit off scale for the wings but I'm hoping once i finish the green stuff armor and warrior scything talon it'll look a bit better











Also work on a tyranid quad gun. I know they can't use them but another member was woking on one and i liked the idea. The gun is the tyrannofex acid sprayer, the structure is just some sculpey







And finally the chaos part of the blog. i finally got in the bodies and put together a few test berzerkers. I'm not entirely happy with them yet, something is off. Also considaring changing the name of the warband to dead angels, though if someone has a better idea i'm all ears
These were all done using bodies, heads and legs from meowmeowminis, and weapons from khorne berzerkers















this last one is a test using regular csm parts and a dark eldar hellion head

Just a quick update, I'm hoping to have my camera working by tomorrow. So hopefully I'll have the two chaos rhinos built and have finished my Huron Blackheart count as, the warband leader Maya Dreston. Lot of kitbashing with that model

working on expanding the design for an aegis

The big problem with the Ladymarines from MeowMeow is the lack of proportionate arms.

The berzerker arms make them suffer even more acutely from gorilla-itis than the normal models.

I'm enjoying your Tyranids though. The "quad gun" is pretty clever.

Nice work. But seriously, the swarmlord looks, well, horrible.

Like the use of the tendril bits, certainly fits in with the chitin tower you created. What's better than someone being inspired by your work is people then riffing and remixing it to make it their own. Good effort all round.

My camera is not working so this is just a quick update of a few things, I have a lot to do and keep getting distracted with new ideas
nids first, I finished assembling 120 hormoguants, now just need to paint them


also working on painting (eventually) malanthrope and tervigon, If you have any ideas for the color of the tervigons egg sac based on my colors please let me know, I really want to finish the model and I'm colorblind, not the best at picking out complementary colors




also a bunch more troops and some MC, again no camera so I won't bother with crappy pics
onto the Angels of Khorne, I'm working on chainaxe with integrated bolt pistol halberds for my berzerkers, the weapon looks good, its the pose and arms I'm working on








also finished my Huron Blackheart count as, came out better then expected but again the pose needs a bit of work




also new design for bikes, I've decided to use carnifex heads over from tires, really like the way it looks though I may add some chains to make it look like they're being held on




my first biker is almost finished as well, I was a bit worried cutting up the legs of the model I had but it came out well, not it just needs to be replicated about 29 more times




also finished two icons of wrath, just need a third




and sometime in the future I may post my Bloodknight and renegade medusa conversions, once they are finished and I actually have money for parts

Look, I'm actually updating!
First off is I finished my bloodknight conversion a while back. More pics are in my gallery but this is the basis for my future mauler and forgefiend as well as helldrake conversions



recently I've been doing a little bit of everything. My tyranids are slowly growing though the number of troops that need to be painted is a bit daunting. I do have two nearly finished tervigons.





for chaos, MMM is back open and once my next paycheck gets here, I will be making a massive order. Right now though I'm messing around with some conversions. My chaos army is biker based so I'm working on a juggernuaght count as. Not happy with it yet, front wheels aren't exactly straight. Also is the corner is an axe of blind fury. Nothing fancy, just a simple dual chainsaw axe

I've also been working on my own SM chapter. Currently the plan is for them to all be wearing mark VIII errant armour and be increased in size with a few pieces of plasticard. Some experimental models below. They haven't been enlarged yet but I'm likeing the idea. The ones below are a spec ops unit and will eventually all have the same 3 eyed heads

I wanted a bit of an angrier look for my devilguants and I have enough hormoguants (about 150), so I attached devourers to hormoguant bodies. Very simple (and possibly done before, though I haven't seen it yet) but I really like them. Though you do need half a penny on the bases to keep them from falling over.

reposting some better pics of my tyranid quad gun, My friend and I agreed to use them in apoc with the following rules.
It can be fired by a tyranid synapse creature in synapse range in exchange for not firing their own weapon.
Outside of synapse they take a leadership test for instinctive behavior. If they pass, they fire at BS1. If they fail they cannot fire.
3+ 3W T4 pricing and stats is the same for quad gun or lascannon variations




and finally my two finished chaos rhinos with havoc launchers and (eventually) dirgecasters. Again simple, utilitarian

That's a nice large hive fleet you have going there, you seem to be getting through it though so well done.
good luck with the 120 hormoguants, I thought 40 of them were bad enough. Eek!

The hormoguants are too bad, just repetitive. I'm having bigger problems with the devilguants, termagaunts and gargoyles because my wash isn't coming out with the same colors as before. I'm going to try some new mixes though, see if I can replicate the effect.
In the meantime I've started another project. Lots of people write different marine codexes to better fit a chapter but most of the time, it can be mostly cut a paste. With the new eldar supplement, I figured it might be better to do a marine supplement for my home few chapter instead of a new codex, designed to work with the space wolves and blood angels codexes.. It's will be fluff, 3 unique characters, 1 unique unit, a new psychic table to roll on and pics of the unique character models. So below are some of my experiments with MVIII errant assualt armour. I would like to do a full company but 100 green stuffed chests might drive me mad.

Also this summer I hope to have my deathwatch encyclopedia projects finished. I'll try to post the pics of the raw materials later tonight.

I really have to stop getting sidetracked: thankfully this project will end soon, an Eldar wraithknight. I don't play eldar but my friend does so I figured I'd pick up one for him. Unfortunately he doesn't like the chest so I'm making the body a bit thinner and sleeker. I'll also be mag arising the weapon choices. I'm considering doing a massive greenstuff cloak but not for his birthday.

So my next project is something I'm hoping to finish this summer, involving about 150 deathwatch models. A chunk of them will be converted but mainly they will be bolter marines. Each one will have a different shoulder pad (painted by someone else because color blind and shaky hands don't mix well) to represent as many of the current loyalist chapters that have known shoulder pads colors and symbols. So without further ado, the first 80 built marines

Just a quick update, mostly me wanting to show off what 30 csm bikes look like, unassembled. Since I'm buying riders from MMM I got them quite cheap, about 5.25 a bike. Unfortunately I won't have time to assemble them, at least you til I finish the baneblade for panda contest. Hopefully I'll have more this weekend if work and my scuba class don't kill me first




Also a interesting note if one of the five people reading this use MMM models, the standard bland legs fit the bikes perfectly, no need for any more then a few minor adjustments

Went to my first tournament yesterday, doubled with 1250 per person. We managed to come in first but I realized after everything was done that I was short 100 pts (forgot to put in my two hive guard). My tervigons did extremly well after the first game. each spawning almost my entire supply of termagants. Anyway with rumors of a new nid codex in november and with al my models already out, I decided to take an army pic with everything, both finished and unfinished.

That is quite the swarm you have goign on here brother. Impressive to say the least. You can easily field some just NASTY army lists.

I know the feeling of being overwhelmed with the number of models on the table. What I've found to be really helpful is to create a list that I know I want to play and focus on that, then fill out all slots on the force org chart. I was able to grind through my Angels of Vengance, going from a half company of marines with paint, to 4 fullypainted tac squads, full dev squad, two dreds and my Company Master and Libby in almost a week.

Very cool with the quad gun btw.

With winter break almost over I finally decided to do some building and painting. My khorne sisters are on hold while I work with a friend on the bodies and deathwatch I put to the side until I find the missing box of marines.
With the new codex out my tyranids are my focus right now. I'm taking Master Azalle's advice and trying to only work on the painting what I need for my army lists. I expanded a bit on the idea though and i'm trying to finish everything not on a 25mm base, excluding rippers.
Starting with a new hive tyrant, I'm magnetizing him so i can mix and match as needed. I'm also going to sculpt a ymargl-like head as well


I've de-armed my carnifexes in preparation for more variety then just screamer killer. They'll all be magnetized as well


My trygons are coming along nicely. I did some kitbashing on the head to give it a more prime-esque fell and i like where it's going







My warrirors are being converted into a variety of loadouts as well, mostly rending claws, I threw in a few heavy weapons


My raveners had a bit on conversion done. I'm trying them with rending claws as well but hate the way they look mixed with scything talons. So I added another claw to the main talons for a count-as rending claws



A few more things i have a lictor being painted and a metal venomthrope being salvaged. Which is activly protesting an attempts at repair. my hive gaurd are almost painted, just need the shiny green and i picked up two more metal tyrant gaurd that are being pained as well



I have a red terror and a thrid tervigon to work on but I'm not sure what color to do the red terror. Red or my hive fleets colors?
finally my biggest piece right now, after a full year I've begun to paint my harridan. Advice for anyone who has one, if you can spray the base color, do it. It has so many little holes, basecoating with a brush is a pain.

Just a quick update. I found my greenstuff today so I threw together the base for the ymargal factor head of my hive tyrant. It's fairly simple, just the swarmlord head with the horn cut off and the tongue bent down for structural support

Another update, I've actually been working a lot faster then I thought, even while being continually distracted
my warriors and ravenors all now have their slimy green skin layer, up next is the armor and claws and other fiddley bits. Also my hive guard are finished. It only took a year!

Just a quick update for now, I'll have pics of my finished Harridan up soon. For now, I have two harpy kits I'm working on converting. Nothing major, just some small changes to make the design more to my liking. WIP so far




The body has had a slight change to the joint between front and back, it's been cut, bent and resculpted. I wanted a more sleek body for the base, less so the vaguely insect like look with the bent waist



The next step will be converting the head, I want to do a mawloc-esque head for the flyers
