What's up with this FAQ? Answering already answered questions, but in a different way.

Lasting Injury and min stat:

Old:
Q: What happens if a player suffers a characteristic reduction as the result of an injury, but the characteristic that would be reduced is already at its minimum value? For example, a ST 1 player that suffers a Dislocated Shoulder (-1 ST). (p.61)
A: If a player that suffers a characteristic reduction is already at their minimum value, it cannot be reduced further. Instead, roll again on the Lasting Injury table until a different result that can be applied is rolled.
New:
Q: If a player with a Passing Ability of 6+ suffers a Broken Arm and has their PA reduced by 1, what happens? (p.61)
A: Characteristics can ever be reduced below the minimum value shown on page 28 of the Blood Bowl Rulebook, so nothing would happen.

Edit: Someone interpreted this to mean that PA specifically can't be reduced below 6+ (some players start with '-'). And for Jump/Leap/Pogo, the difference is about occupied vs unoccupied square. This is quite convoluted explaining in my opinion.

Looks like Super Bowl hype meets Blood Bowl for this week.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/02/07/making-an-exhibition-its-a-blood-bowl-grandstand-on-warhammer/

ETA: They mentioned the almanacs. Are they going to be brazen enough to release a 2023 almanac even though there was only ONE team released this year?

About the only other thing they could even throw in a new Almanac would be the tournament/matched play guidelines book hey had as direct only and in a limited run.

Would be quite the slim Almanac...

I was just looking at the 2022 Almanac, which has issues 14 & 15. Which sell for US$9.99 for the ebooks. And the flingin' flangin' Almanac costs 37.99.

New Gnome team.

Got to say I never expected this, out of all the teams that could have been, I wouldn't have put my money on a race that has barely been seen in WHFB for decades aside from in the 4e RPG.

My “knowledge” of Blood Bowl teams goes back to the old Star Player and Companion books. And I think this is the first time I’ve encountered a Gnome Team even being a thing!

Which is still very welcome. Whilst utterly clueless at the game, seeing an entirely new team in the dugout feels encouraging. Like GW are more committed to its future.

Wonder what surprises lie ahead?

The tree man is new, yes.

I don't know if I'd ever find someone else who plays blood bowl, but I strongly desire to paint these characters.

90s Citadel Journal had the Forest Folk team in it, which included gnome players (and centaur players they could ride lol).

Interesting. I too have never heard of a mention of gnomes in the Warhammer world but admittedly I've never been too deep in the lore. Were they an option ever in any edition of WFRP or WHFB? I want to like this but can't help but feel it would have been better served as an addition to the halfling team instead of taking some of the short-folk shine away from them.

Not that thrilled with this team. I would have rather had one of the missing teams. I'm surprised they aren't doing Tomb Kings next to tie in with The Old World.

I’ve a feeling they might’ve been at least mentioned in 3rd Ed WHFB? Been ages since I had those books, so I can’t say for sure.

New team is disgusting. Has nothing to do with the tone of the game.

you're right! how dare GW sully the serious tone of blood bowl. after all, we're here for normal american football being played normally. there's no room for animals or weird little people running around on the field! what are GW thinking?

Disgusting? Not sure I agree with that.

Comedic relief Gnome and wild animals team... in a game that is a parody of sports, with more comic relief thrown in between the art and snippets of commentary from Jim and Bob? Hate to say it, this team fits in perfectly with the tone of the game.

Agreed, if people want a more serious game there are games that operate as a proper sports team manager, instead of a game where your player can trip and die on a rock when they try to run a little extra, be murdered by the crowd, get into a fight with the refs, be hit by a chainsaw/grenade in a match, or be thrown like a spear into the end zone or into another player.

Blood Bowl isn't and has never been a serious game, a few minutes spent reading the core rulebook will tell you that.

I feel like Dwarf teams just got even more useful into this Stunty and Amazon team meta that seems to be happening lol.
