Having played a number of games against Space Wolves, I despise Longfangs with such a passion that I decided to create a character with the express purpose of killing them. I then realised I could combine this with my great love of all things 40K assassin, so here are my rules for Asaid Virenus. (She's an established character in the fluff, from the Thorian sourcebook: http://secteur-calixis.fr/docs/Thorian_%20Faction_Sourcebook.pdf). At the moment she seems quite overpowered from some minor playtesting, so I'd appreciate some suggestions as to toning her down without detracting from her intended role (killing those longfangs).

Thanks in advance.

Asaid Virenus

Points: 215

Ws Bs S T W I A Ld Sv
8 8 4 4 2 7 4 10 4+

Unit type: Infantry (character).

Wargear: Frag Grenades, Synskin, Neural Shredder, C'tan Phase Sword.

Hyperpolymorphine: This experimental drug gives Asaid superhuman impersonation abilities. Unlike other Callidus assassins, she is able to make use of it even on the field of battle, causing havoc among the enemy. Asaid arrives from reserve using the Polymorphine rules. In addition, at the end of her Movement phase, after enemy Interceptor weapons have been fired, she may slip unnoticed into an enemy unit (providing she is not engaged in close combat). If she chooses to do so, remove her from the table and place her in ongoing reserves. She automatically renters play using the Polymorphine rules next turn. If Asaid chooses to enter ongoing reserves in the same turn she has already entered play using the Polymorphine rules, such excessive use of the drug will have consequences: Asaid must take a toughness test before being removed that turn. If the test is failed, she temporarily loses control of her body, and is not removed from the table.

Special Rules: Fearless, Fleet, Lightning Reflexes, Hit and Run, Stealth.

Incredible Flexibility: Asaid is able to contort her body in seemingly impossible ways. She ignores the effects of difficult and dangerous terrain while moving (including when charging).

Living Weapon: Asaid is able to grow and stretch her limbs at will, and even grow new ones! In close combat she may re-roll one failed roll To Hit, and one failed roll To Wound, per turn.

Assassins have a standard stat line. The only thing special she has over them is one piece of wargear, she doesn't need double their standards wounds and attacks.

C'tan phase swords already have rules. Hers is not special.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Right, OK. I get not having extra attacks, but I thought the wounds were justified by the Hyperpolymorphine. Also without the extra wounds, two of her special rules can see her dead pretty quickly. Maybe I should indicate that the drugs are responsible for the extra wounds?

The point is she isn't tougher or hardier than a garden variety assassin.

How do you know that though? From a rules point of view, I added extra wounds to compensate for the toughness tests, which I added to reduce the power of her teleporting everywhere. I only have the fluff on her from the Thorian sourcebook, which goes into little detail about the specific powers of Hyperpolymorphine. Do you have any additional fluff on her which goes into more detail? If so, coukd you send me it? That would be really helpful.

By looking at the same stats in the Thorian sourcebook as you. Her game statistics are similar to other assassins.

Ah, from Inquisitor. I didn't look at the stats in the book, because I don't play the game. Thanks very much, I'll rethink her.
