Since I've been reading 6th ed and more recently the new DA and Chaos codexes, I've been thinking about whether it's worth it to put special items on single wound models. There's so much sniping and precision available to most armies that the first target of a smart general is the guy you're trying to hide.

In one edition they've given the ability to shoot down the frontline of an encroaching enemy unit, forcing us to hide units, and the ability to carve those hidden units out no matter the position.

My proposal: Add one wound to these special models to make the decision a little easier. Why has GW not been doing this already with the new codexes?

Because its stupid and unnecessary. losing special characters or weapons is par for the course.

You're making my point. I don't mind targeting hidden characters first, it makes the game easier for me when I can kill there Sarge/Exarch/HQ before the rest of the squad. But narratively it makes no sense in most situations.

1. Sergeants are leaders. This does not make them tougher than the soldiers they lead. This does not make 'narrative sense'.
2. Narrative sense is irrelevant when making rules - the rules should reflect the fluff, but be reasonable first and foremost.
3. Just because it 'makes sense' that a tactical marine sergeant shouldn't be the first popped (even though I'd go for the heavy weapons first.), it doesn't make it an efficient or reasonable way to play the game.
4. to represent the value of characters, their soldiers will take the bullet for them. That's called look-out-sir.

Furthermore, precision shots only account for characters.
Characters, rolling a six, who then have to wound and that their opponent doesn't make a save.

Scipio Africanus said it perfectly.

Format of the post was easy to follow. Points were made easy to understand. God i might be in love. All joking aside though, he is right.

Hopefully one day i'll have an army!

Some of them should look at tellion he has served under 3 different cm so that diserves a extra wound.
