Just popping up another finished piece to try and snag some more people towards the P&M blog at the same time, cue the evil laughter. First time using this technique on the lamps, was a little unsure at first but I'm quite pleased with the end effect.

I really like it. I'm hoping to get such a nice rich red for my Blood Angels Land Raider.

The mud effects and chipped paint work really well, too. Much better than the 'fresh from the factory' feel.

Looks great! Very nice job on the weathering and chipped paint. My only suggestion is to add another layer to your lighting effects that is almost white.

I think the glowing green on the coils of the lascannons was an interesting choice. I've never seen anyone else do that before.

^^ This! With a little bit more brightness on the lights it will go from brilliant to insanely good. It's a really, really well painted tank you have there.

I love your model! Good OSL although I would suggest giving the lamps and lascannons a white highlight to give a more realistic feel.

Well I was a little surprised to see this thread while browsing around the showcase for inspiration 6 months after I made it

The white highlight has been mentioned a few times, I just haven't had time to go back over some of the older minis if I ever want to get the rest of them painted, but rest assured it's been taken on board for future projects!

The mud was a mix of techniques and paints, pva, sand, ballast, matte medium, pigments in dark tones, then the same again over the top with lighter tones then a drybrush of pigment and paint.
