I made some changes to my tourney list (which for the record, went 2/1 in my games) see what you guys think!

Warlord: Interrogator-chaplain Mordecai (Terminator armor, crozius mace, Mace of redemption) -170pts

Elite 1: Deathwing Knights (5 vets, land raider crusader w/ Multi-melta & deathwing vehicle)-525pts

Elite 2: Mortis Dreadnaught (x2 autocannons)-125pts

Troop 1: Tactical squad (10 man, flamer, rhino)-180pts

Troop 2: Tactical squad (10 man, melta gun, Combi-melta, rhino)-195pts

Troop 3: Tactical squad (5 man, Plasma rifle, combi-plasma, TLLC razorback)-170pts

Troop 4: Tactical squad (5 man, Plasma rifle, combi-plasma, TLLC razorback)-170pts

What do you think? I got rid of my devastators to finally take a whirlwind and mortis dreadnaught for some AA and long range support


I have to say, I love this much armor

I like the Mortis, troops 3&4 and the vindis but why are the troop 1&2 10men when you're not using heavy support? If you're putting 2 ten men squads should toss the whirlwind and give em multi meltas and throw more bodies in~ personally I would
Make troop 5 and 6 with rhinos each
Minus the whirlwind
Cut down everyone to 5 man squads
Give em multi meltas (or regular meltas) since being in a rhino makes you relentless (unless it goes more than 6")

umm, there is no troop 5&6 O.o but the reason I have the 10 man squads is to add more bodies on the table that won't be blown off an objective as much.

and I didn't know rhinos made you relentless o-o

Rhinos and vehicles themselves are relentless. They don't make the troops inside relentless. If the rhino moves at all or even if they get out then they have to snap fire that turn

Only suggestion I can add to your list is possibly drop either the whirlwind or a vindicator and toss in an aegis line with quad gun. My suggestion would be the WW. That would give you even more AA than the dread since it wouldn't only hit on 6's and you can pick off flyers like hell drakes before they get to shoot you first. Other thing you may want to look into like dare said is that's a 10 man squad with flamers who are either foot slogging across the board or standing there being useless each turn near a point. I would see if you couldn't get them LC or ML so that they at least have something to shoot every turn while hiding behind the wall. Plasma cannons are good also

oh, damn! forgot to add the rhinos in the wargear!!

and the mortis dread can pretty much be a quadgun if he stands still. 6th edition update gave him skyfire and interceptor.

wait when did they get skyfire? is that per DA codex or per an errata?

I knew there was something off in that list. The Mortis Dreadnought (named that way) is an FW model that has Skyfire if it doesn't move and costs 125.

What you take in the DA codex (6th) is a Dreadnought that can be armed with 2 TL Autocannons, but only costs 120.

I think you're playing mix and match with old DA rules from FW and the new DA codex

Yeah that's a forgeworld ruleset which isn't accepted in normal tournaments unless they specifically make an exemption for it

The only thing with interceptor and skyfire is the aegis line quad gun in the non FW models. Hydras(?) from guard have skyfire only, but no interceptor. and then flakk missles. Other than that there is not much anti air other than flyers.

still says that it is part of the elites section, and has a 6th edition thing, but I should have remembered how much FW is hated here X-X

I know about the Tournies, this is a modification to a list I used before. Tell me about the list and how it could work instead of going after that dogma of "no FW allowed!"

What would you suggest I used in place of it, then? or maybe give some advice to how it is used?

Bah if only the mortis dread could be used in normal lists. I got really excited there for a second.

Why the chaplain? Take a librarian with prescience, not only is this cheaper than the chappy but has a force weaopon and re-rolls to hit (shooting and combat) to any squad within 12" and not just the first round of combat like the chappy.

Tiger here's what I'd do, my preferred list is the Iron Wing, the numbers aren't exact I'm at work and don't have access to my codex:

Drop:
Interrogator Chaplain
Land Raider
Troop 1&2
Vindicators

Add:
Belial
2nd Mortis (at the lower 120)
2 Land Speeder Typhoons (squadron)
Nephilim
Darkshroud
2 more Tac squads like Troop 3&4

The two Mortis's create your fire base, they'll always have something the autocannons can hurt. Use Belial to get DWA your termies right where you want them. The four Razorbacks can either form a line with squads deployed against horde armies or stay mobile against other mobile armies. The Typhoons and Darkshroud run together to form a glass cannon harasser unit, if your opponent ignores them then make them pay with krak missiles, if they direct fire that way there's more punishment on the way. The Neph should probably be TLLC over the mega bolter, but you'll have a better idea of what you'll be facing

Mostly because I like the terminator chaplain model and I had some really bad experiences with a librarian recently. more than once I had his head explode in the opening stages of a game due to bad dice rolling. Hatred can't be taked away from bad dice or from another guy blocking it with wargear (space wolves, Eldrad, ect) Plus, the Chaplain has one more attack, wound, and a slightly better invuln save than the libby.

So, everyone is in favor of the razorbacks? okay, I can see it working more. maybe do this for troops 1 and two:

troop 1: tactical squad (5 man, melta gun, combi-melta, Assault cannon razor back)-165pts

troop 2: Tactical squad ( 5 man, flamer, combi-flamer, Heavy flamer razorback)-140pts

Fair enough, I too have had some terrible luck with psychic tests. With Ezeikel failing three of my tests in a row with double 6's trying to prescience his squad, and in turn killing him turn 1. Not only giving my opponent slay the warlord but also first blood!

But this could still not dampen my love for librarians!

glad i'm not the only one! also, it seems a waste if I can't caste psy powers every turn like that.


and relized I am 10 points over due to points confusion on my troops 3&4. fixing it now.

so, how do you think I should fix Troops 1&2?
