Normally I don't post lists to this forum, but I thought I would share this one. I won first place in a local tournament with it, so I thought other people might be able to get some use out of it.

HQ
1. Vulkan He'Stan - Warlord

Troops
1. Tactical Squad (10 Marines) with a powerfist and combi-melta on the sergeant, a flamer and multimelta in the squad, and a Drop Pod with a locator beacon.
2. Tactical Squad (10 Marines) with a powerfist and combi-melta on the sergeant, a flamer and multimelta in the squad, and a Drop Pod with a locator beacon.
3. Tactical Squad (10 Marines) with a powerfist, melta bombs, and combi-melta on the sergeant, a flamer and multimelta in the squad, and a Drop Pod.

Elites
1. Terminator Assault Squad (5) with thunder hammers and storm shields.
2. Land Raider Crusader with multi-melta and extra armor. (Taken as a Dedicated Transport for the Terminators.)
3. Dreadnought with heavy flamer/combat weapon and a multi-melta in a Drop Pod.

Heavy Support
1. Devastator Squad (5) with two missile launchers and two lascannons.

The tactics used were pretty simple. Tac Squads one and two came in first turn and eliminated as many vehicles as possible. Combat Squads were used in all cases. The dreadnought and the remaining Tactical Squad came in later to provide support as needed.

The Land Raider and it's cargo of vicious murderers went with the ol' Killer Croc strategy. ("It was a big rock...") As a side note, the Land Raider managed to fail a difficult terrain check in every single game. (A statistical anomaly...)

Devastators were deployed out of line of sight in every game. They spent their first turn running into position, by which time the enemy had bigger problems (the two Tac Squads and the Land Raider full of termies closing in). This was the first time I've ever used devastator marines without them getting swept off the table in the first turn.

The dreadnought woefully underperformed in two of the games, making me feel that this new edition might signal a need to bench the dreads for a while. (Although the dread almost won the second round by himself, killing four units, and earning two victory points, by himself...)

My decision to buy the Land Raider as a dedicated transport prior to the game was made in an effort to deny my opponents any points for killing it in a Big Guns Never Tire mission. (Which came up, but the Raider didn't even get blown up, surprisingly.)

In any event, not really looking to refine this list much. I offer it up in the hopes that someone else might find some use out of it. After years of trying to get a Drop Pod army right, I think I've got my tactics down pretty well, and thought I would try to help in case someone else can get some use out of this.

Welcome to the Freakshow!
