Hi all,

Ive been working on a custom chapter, I like the Black Templars chapter markings so my chapter is based on them but I need a name for them as im useless at that kind of stuff!

I have done quite a bit of wear and tear on them as if they are a lost chapter who have been crusading for a while and have just re-appeared

Anyway here are a few photos from the first models that I have finished. So, as always, opinions welcome.

Edit - Sorry for not adding to this in a while but ive added a few photos from 2 extra models ive done, my chapter master and a Terminator sergeant, hope you like

I love the weathering you've done. Those guys look like they work hard and don't get any breaks, perfect for marines. Remember if you're going off of BTs, that they come from the imperial fists, so you have a little more to work with nameswise. I'm terrible at names too...

Thanks guys, thoroughly enjoying painting these. I find it very hard to stick to one project but so far so good with these guys. As Im finding that Im enjoying painting this colour scheme im going to paint my librarians and maybe my chaplain in this colour too. I dont like painting blue, I can never get it right so my explanation is that these guys went MIA before they decided librarians should be blue and chaplains should be black.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Some great names their, you all have greater imaginations than me!

I am going to try and keep this updated as much as I can, I've got plenty to work on. The rest of the tactical squad, several devastators, a scout squad, assault terminator squad, command squad, 2 librarians, 1 in terminator armour, the other in power armour, a chaplain in terminator armour, a few other command models including a converted terminator captain using Calgars torso and some grey knight legs, a sword brethren squad, a land speeder storm, storm talon, storm raven and a land raider, phew!!!

So, plenty to do between work, married life, continuing my football manager save game and watching my beloved Sunderland! so thanks for taking an interest guys and stay tuned for more!

Awesome colour scheme, i would cobine the first 2 suggested names to get Brazen Knights. Awesome Captain by the way!

Great models BTW and for the name I like the sound of the Brazen Knights that stargasm suggested.

Out of curiousity though, I assume you are not using the BT list for them as there is no mention of an Emperors Champion, plus you have Devastators and Librarians listed which Templars don't have access to?

Really straight forward mate. I started with a base of the old scorched brown, not sure what colour it is with the new paints. I then went over with iron breaker I think or maybe lead belcher, whichever was the brighter. On the edges of the armour plates I did the same thing but the technique is a more untidy style of edge highlighting. Remember to leave the brown around the edges. I'm undecided on whether to go around every battle scar with a mix of ushabti bone and white to really make the scratches stand out?

I think they are going to be classed as a normal marine chapter. I just like the Templars heraldry. I should have explained that I just paint for the fun of it. Haven't played the game since 2nd edition but even back then I never had a fully painted army so now I've settled into married life I can now commit to my hobby instead of going out and getting drunk at football matches etc

I love the Templar insignia with your colour scheme. As others have said, the weathering's really well done.

Stand-out for me has to be the Contemptor He looks like he's fought his way through an entire Crusade solo. Lovely work.

Please show more.

Brilliant models - I love the scheme and overall painting quality; really original too. Brazen Knights is a cracking name too.

Any background or more models on them?

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I hope to have some more models done soon, I have to get the rest of the Tactical Squad to do anyway as Ive shown the completed ones to Games Workshop staff and I have been told they are good enough to go in the display cabinets once Ive got a completed unit. This is a personal victory for me as Ive been painting seriously for about 2 years and I just wanted to get to a decent standard.

Im going to try and get some more done over the weekend as the weather forecast in North East England isnt that great so I dont think Ill be going anywhere!

Again, thank you so much for the cracking feedback you have given so far and keep it coming

Ive got plenty of models, they are all undercoated at the minute so no further painted models. I have quite an interesting commander model with a double handed halberd which I stole from the Grey Knights sprue and the majority of my command models have servo skull companions.

Im hoping to get some more at least started by the weekend mate so hopefully have some more pictures up by then.

Actually I have another question for everyone, I have a few models with cloaks so what colour would you think went with my colour scheme? Which colour would give the best colour contrast?

I havent come up with any fluff yet, apart from my chapter is a forgotten chapter who have been on a long crusade against the Imperiums enemies, more than likely chaos. They dont have a homeworld and travel around in a fleet of spacecraft and because they have been out of touch with the Imperium for so long they havent had a chance to repair their armour etc. I know its not great but its a start

What did your guys look liike before the washes? If I can interject some constructive crit, it looks as if heavy washes are covering up a stellar paint scheme and job.

They just look very plain mate, I really dont like the super clean super shiny look to some models ive seen. I just think a Space Marine should look a little worn and battle scarred unless he is on the parade ground, or whatever the Imperiums equivalent of a parade ground is

Thanks for the feedback though mate, ill try and take some before and after photos when i do the next one. Im working on another 2 now but ive already got the basecoat and the washes down.

I should say as well that I use weathering powders around the backpack and on the bottoms of the legs.

Nice work. I like the realistic and worn look. As for a name maybe:

Knights Imperium.

Rightious Brotherhood.

Would like hear about there history. Maybe they have been chaseing a Chaos Warband through space and time?
