Subject: Converting the Tau Riptide!

Hello again Ladies Gentlemen of DakkaDakka,
I come to the painting and modeling board once more for the wonderful advice and insight that you have provided me with in the past.
As the title says I am looking to convert the Riptide! I have been a huge fan of giant robots since I was a kid watching Voltron, Power Rangers, Gransformers, and Gundam since I was a little kid.
In the past I put together a few Gundam models from the old series, Jims, Zakus, etc. I remember how many pieces they came in and how neat they looked on my shelf next to my computer. Now I play Warhammer, haven't built a model outside of 40k in a long while, when I saw the Riptide memories came rushing back and I felt inspired to convert a Riptide using Char's Custom Red Zaku.
I think a combination of the Riptide bits with the Gundams bits would look absolutely fantastic on the table top! I'm looking for anyone willing to give helpful input in the dimensions of the Riptide and possibly similar scale Gundam models. I know where I could look for models, but finding something of a similar scale is beyond me. Does anyone here put together those kind of models? Has anyone done something similar?
This will be my first big undertaking in converting a model in a serious way so any help is extremely welcome.
Thanks to all of you who made it through that marginal wall of text! I look forward to any and all feedback!
-From

Te only new gundam I built with 40k scale in mind was this one. It stands just as tall as a dreadknight and looks tau-ish in my opinion.

Hey heavybolter,
The Riptide stands just a tad taller than a dread-knight I believe, but that model looks great! Could you tell me the dimensions of that model or simply provide a link to the model you used?

Try this, it's the gundam 00 tieren. I still have the space version which is not as nice so I'll be doing some kind of conversion with it.

I've been planning on using Gundam models as Tau proxy units for a while now, also. What is the MS that HeavyBolter posted called?

Geara Zulu. It's in the HGUC line and hails from Gundam Unicorn. Nice work on him, btw.

I just fell in love with this model and spent 45 minutes practicing my google fu to find it.
It's a pretty heavy conversion of a geara zulu, here's a link to the build http://gundamaustralia.com/forum/index.php?topic=455.0
